Anyone feel like the recent trend of extending coaches after brief success (not sustained success) is concerning and bad for the sport?
Indiana is undergoing negotiations to secure Curt Cignetti. This is his first year at Indiana, and while 9-0 is undoubtedly impressive, I think they're benefiting from an extremely weak schedule. What if things go south during year 2 or 3? They'll have locked themselves into a expensive contract.
Obviously Jimbo's extension after the 2020 season is a prime example of this, but it has been happening everywhere.
It doesn't feel good for the sport, universities, and fanbases.
