Scourton is writing the resume for the NFL. He has 10 TFLs and 4.5 Sacks. Nobody is close to what he has achieved thus far. I have a feeling Elko and Co. will produce more NFL talent on the defense considering his body of work of sending players to the NFL. It gets better. HS players will see the pipeline Elko created with the big league!

A shout out for Moss. He is averaging 102 yards per game.

Kiper's new Big Board (10/10) for the Top 25 prospects for the 2025 draft has him up to No. 6.

1 - Hunter (Co.)
2 - Johnson (Mich.)
3 - Carter (PSU)
4 - Banks Jr. (Tex.)
5 - Graham (Mich.)
6- Scourton (A&M)

Ironically, as good as Nic is, I'd bet that the player with the biggest NFL upside is Shemar Stewart. That guy is an athletic freak of nature.

I've seen Stewart projected as a late 1st round draft pick too.

There will probably be 3-4 QBs taken in the first round of this draft, but you get the feeling it's because teams are desperate for franchise QBs in the NFL more so than it's much of a crop.

After 8 of the first 11 picks in the 2024 draft were QBs or WRs (and the first defensive player taken at 15) it's a little refreshing to see the other positions mostly at the top.

nic scour ton is our best and most complete defensive end since myles garrett. he is so good at playing the run and rushing the passer. and he has a couple absolutely devastating pass rush moves. and he has some of the heaviest hands i have seen/ it reminds me of reggie white. someone is going to get a 10 yr pro when they select scourtom in the first round.

I loved the opening of this week's Pulse that featured NS going to a Mexican place for breakfast in Bryan, and introducing himself to everyone in there.

Nic Scourton is definitely making a name for himself! Those 10 TFLs and 4.5 sacks are impressive, and it's clear Elko's system is working its magic. With that kind of production, definitely got a real shot at the NFL. The defensive talent pipeline Elko's building is only going to attract more top-tier recruits. Also, Moss is quietly having a great season too averaging 102 yards per game is no small feat. Exciting times for Aggie football, I'm extremely happy about this.

Seems like a well rounded young man. Glad we were able to get him to come home. Hopefully we see him go very high in the draft.

He averages 102 yards per game in only 14.67 carries per game and he just seems to be getting g better and better every week, just like the rest of the team

I believe it was against Arkansas that he chased the athletic QB and forced him to go out of bounds. I can't find that highlight but found something more impressive. He ran 45 yards! Scoop and Score

You see Scourton and Stewart in uniform compared to everyone else? They are NFL players playing college football.

I think this is the path forward. Find the late bloomer on a Sun Belt or Big 10 or ACC middle of the road team.

Even small colleges play at a level superior to high school. If you can find a small school baller, you have a much higher hit rate than 5* high school kid.

Scourton has been great! Don't forget eh two Shemar's though. They've been playing with a huge level of intensity as well, something we've been lacking for a while.

is it possible Scourton is better than Myles?

like the Sumlin teams he played on...it seems like Myles made most of his big plays in the 1st half of the season

I don't think so. Scourton has been a really productive player, but I don't love how he sets an edge. We do get gashed sometimes to the outside of his hip bc he gets caught looking or driving inside. Myles, on the other hand, was exceptional on driving the play inside and knowing when to press upfield rather than a B line for the QB every time. These are nitpicks, but how Garrett was drafted as high as he was. He was a borderline perfect DE in the draft evals.

This has nothing to do with Scourton specifically. It's just an opinion on the state of college football. Scourton has 4.5 sacks in 8 games which doesn't really seem like a lot. It probably is on the higher end. He led the B1G last year with 10.

My observation is that teams pass way more than they did 30-40 years ago, but players don't seem to be getting as many sacks. A&M had players getting 20 sacks a year back in the 80s and that's back when they threw less and played less games.

I know lots of factors play a part in that. Again, that is not a shot at Scourton. I know how valuable he is with hurries and TFLs. Honestly, I care more about hurries than I do sacks. It just catches my eyes when I read about guys and they are only averaging 1/2 sack a game but they are the feared pass rushers. I see it on all of the teams. It just shows me that the game has changed a bunch.

Ive been watching the Dline closely this year, moreso than I recall in previous seasons.

Do you feel the opposing QBs have been doing an excellent job at getting rid of the football? I remember watching the Bowling Green game and it seemed really obvious they were set on not allowing a sack. They held a bunch and the QB threw away the ball a lot.

I feel like every team we've played other than maybe LSU has done an excellent job with this. The INT totals are also telling on how well our guys are getting to the QB.

The sack numbers aren't there but everything else relates to pressure is.

Thoughts?

Change of offensive schemes and alignments it's alot harder to get the qb. Qb are alot better at getting ball out and feeling pressure think 7-7 football most routes are designed to get the ball out fast. Unless your a QB like Milroe that drifts and holds on to the ball to long. Pass rushers have gotten so quick and athletic it's changed the game Offensive coordinator know a 325lb tackle can only block a athlete so long.
