This has nothing to do with Scourton specifically. It's just an opinion on the state of college football. Scourton has 4.5 sacks in 8 games which doesn't really seem like a lot. It probably is on the higher end. He led the B1G last year with 10.

My observation is that teams pass way more than they did 30-40 years ago, but players don't seem to be getting as many sacks. A&M had players getting 20 sacks a year back in the 80s and that's back when they threw less and played less games.

I know lots of factors play a part in that. Again, that is not a shot at Scourton. I know how valuable he is with hurries and TFLs. Honestly, I care more about hurries than I do sacks. It just catches my eyes when I read about guys and they are only averaging 1/2 sack a game but they are the feared pass rushers. I see it on all of the teams. It just shows me that the game has changed a bunch.

Ive been watching the Dline closely this year, moreso than I recall in previous seasons.

Do you feel the opposing QBs have been doing an excellent job at getting rid of the football? I remember watching the Bowling Green game and it seemed really obvious they were set on not allowing a sack. They held a bunch and the QB threw away the ball a lot.

I feel like every team we've played other than maybe LSU has done an excellent job with this. The INT totals are also telling on how well our guys are getting to the QB.

The sack numbers aren't there but everything else relates to pressure is.

Thoughts?

QB pressures is the most telling stat.

Kiper's new Big Board (10/10) for the Top 25 prospects for the 2025 draft has him up to No. 6.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/insider/story/_/id/41109018/2025-nfl-draft-rankings-mel-kiper-big-board-top-prospects-players ($)

1 - Hunter (Co.)
2 - Johnson (Mich.)
3 - Carter (PSU)
4 - Banks Jr. (Tex.)
5 - Graham (Mich.)
6- Scourton (A&M)
. . .

Michigan sure seems to have incredible talent for a team that sucks so much.

Meh, they beat a 6-3 Minnesota, the USC team which also beat LSU, and they have the same number of wins as South Carolina. Tough schedule and a terrible offense are doing the Wolverines no favors.

Kiper's 10/31 Big Board has four Michigan players in the Top 24. However three 1st round draft picks on D and a 1st round TE can't win games if you don't have a QB and can't score.

Their next game against Indiana will be the first time Michigan hasn't been favored in the tilt since 1968 (the Hoosiers are favored by about two TDs at home). Fun stuff.

yes, but QB pressures can still turn into positive plays for the offense

QB sacks cannot

Nice kid, great player.

Not in Myles' zip code talent wise.
