I don't think ND is that good as far as passing O. They didn't do much against NIU either. Thus, I think the jury is still out as far as concluding "we have a stout D".

Who's saying we have a stout D. Certainly not Elko. I believe he said the run defense is horrible.

Now of course it can get better and it's going to have to pretty quick after watching that Hogs game.

Every game is a mystery. There should always be excitement as we figure out what we got.

I'm always excited for our games regardless of how we have been playing. Glutton for punishment.

Weather could be a factor in this game, there could be thunderstorms and it is a natural grass field.

And to be fair, it is "horrible" in that it keeps having blown assignments result in big gains. It is not like teams are getting 5-6 yards every play. It's that we keep giving up 20+ yard plays here and there.
On the Loochador podcast, they highlighted this with the first half rushing stats for McNeese. They had something like 52 yards on 12 carries but one of those was for something like 26 yards. So one bad play and 11 plays for 26 yards. So, that one bad play turned a 2.36 ypc into a 4.33 ypc which is the difference between good/great and meh.

Also, the second half of the McNeese game was all 2nd and 3rd stringers with lots of true freshmen. Those guys hopefully won't have to see the field much in games that matter.

I went to Miami last year, going to Florida this year. Yes, I am more excited about going to Florida than Miami. I think it will be a better overall fan environment and experience, win or lose. Also, we had the belief we were good going to Miami and found out not so much. Here, we know our challenges, so my expectations are more "excited to see if we are progressing".

So yea, excited to see what happens this weekend.
