I definitely agree with winning our next 4 games for a 4-1 start because we play two cupcake games and two SEC teams, whose head coaches are on biggest hot seats in college football. A 4-1 start with a 2-0 start in SEC games would match last year's 4-1 (2-0 SEC) start. Florida has lost 6 consecutive games, including 3 consecutive home games, and 24 of their last 34 games against Power 4 teams, dating back to a 37-34 home loss to LSU on 12/12/20. This is a must win road game because a loss at Florida would extend our road losing streak to 11 games and our losing streak against Power 4 teams to 4 games. Arkansas finished 4-8 (1-7 SEC) and lost 8 of 9 games against Power 4 teams last year. Since joining the SEC, we have won 11 of our last 12 games against Arkansas, and I don't see that changing this year.
Our toughest remaining games are against Missouri, LSU, Auburn, and Texas, and 3 of them are at home. Hopefully, we can win 2 of them. I think the LSU game is the most winnable because we have won 3 straight home games against LSU since 2018, including the last 2 by 13+ points each. The road games at Mississippi State and South Carolina are both likely wins. For these reasons, I still think the floor is 8-4, which would result in a 5-3 SEC record for just our 4th winning SEC record in 15 years. Also, both records would match Jimbo Fisher's first season in 2018. Hopefully, Mike Elko can exceed that by going 9-3 and 6-2 in SEC games.
