After watching our opening loss I have a prediction. We are better than we were at any point in 22 or 23 season. We were solid on defense and our running game and O line looked at least top half of SEC. Our wr and Qb play we're bad but some of that is due to ND defense playing well. If we start 4-1 would that be considered a good start for our team? One thing I know about the zoo and Tex Ags we are a glass half empty fan base. We are in a new era, get to the top 12 and give yourself a chance to be in the playoff. I'm predicting a 4-1 start and chance to have a playoff run.

You really called us a glass half empty fan base? The fan base that supports a top five revenue athletic department, a fan base that sells out season tickets and that gives out coaches extensions like candy at Halloweeen. All this being done while we haven't won a conference title since 1998, finished in the top 10 only twice since that time and considered the most underachieving football program in the country given our resources. Unfortunately we are the biggest glass half full fan base in the country.

If we can't go 4-1 to start the year we might as well get ready for no bowl game. We play two cupcakes and two teams whose head coaches are on the biggest hot seats in college football.

You're questioning whether the fanbase....
mostly full of overly emotional people....
who mostly don't know jack schidt about the true in's and out's of football....
and mostly just over-react to whatever they think they saw on game night....
and take as the gospel truth of whatever they thought they heard the media morons say....

are wrong??

Of course the fanbase is wrong.
It's mostly full of idiots. But we love them anyway, because it's OUR idiots

Open your eyes. We have the same team last Saturday as we did last year. Solid mistake prone defense and zero offense. Can you give specifics on what improvements we had on offense?

But this is our hill!

It really doesn't matter what the fanbase thinks or not. The bottom line is that the performance we saw last Saturday means that we are still a long ways away from even sniffing a conference title.

Not talking conference title, we have one in the last 25 years. But new era where 12 teams have a chance at a Natty. We are in the 12 to 30 group. Why not us why not now. Our defense looked improved. What are our toughest games? Vs Missouri vs LSU vs, TU, at Fla, at Auburn? 6-2 in conf is not that crazy. Will 9-3 get us in playoff? It's not the same game as it has been the last 10 years. New era!

So let me see if I comprehend:
1. You correctly predict the loss to ND, days after the game.
2. Then you go out on a limb and predict that A&M will beat McNeese State (1-11 record in 2023)
3. Then you predict a ROAD win against Florida (5-7 record in 2023, plus a loss in 2024)
4. We then come back home and beat Bowling Green (7-6 in 2023), who was 108th in Total Offense, and a surprising 25th in Total Defense in 2023.
5. Then you predict beating Arkansas with Bobby Petrino's #4 Total Offense in 2024, and the #5 Total Defense in 2024.

And you predict we can do all that to get to 4-1 with the 7th most talented roster in college Football, and a 5 star elite QB that NFL scouts say is first round draftable? Bold prediction.

It's a team sport and I can't remember the last time I pointed a finger at 1 person for a loss but that was on Weigman. Defense looked great. Offense just needed some help from its most critical position.

The offensive line was miles better for starters. Play calling and design was overall much better. Weigman didn't play well and press man with pressure is nearly impossible to beat consistently when done well. Notre Dame does it extremely well.

I definitely agree on 4-1 start. We have cupcake schedule. Mizzou and LSU will be toughest games until Auburn.

This site will be hilarious after we beat the pigs and all the clouds part. Fans will be making CFP plans

8-4 is absolute floor with this easy schedule.

I work with two long time ND fans. The first one said A&M will have a good year, ND's defense is just that good. The second one said A&M's QB was playing scared and just looked lost, that he was glad we didn't run the ball more. That maybe it was just a symptom of the first game with new coaches/scheme.

Gave up nearly 200 on the ground and averaged less than 4 YPC on the ground. No indication we are top half of the league in either.

They just watched our QB1 turn in literally the worst performance in all of CFB and and are still predicting 8-9 wins!

The record at this point isn't that big of a surprise - I'm sure many people expected we'd lose the game. The offense was shockingly bad... but, not totally sure why we'd expect much different. History of poor offense, new OC and scheme, game 1, facing experienced defense... had all of the makings for a stinker. Hope is the only reasonable explanation for the fallout - it can kill you.

I have my concerns on coaching and QB play like all of yall. But our defense is top 10. That will beat the leaser teams on our schedule of which there are clearly 8.

I definitely agree with winning our next 4 games for a 4-1 start because we play two cupcake games and two SEC teams, whose head coaches are on biggest hot seats in college football. A 4-1 start with a 2-0 start in SEC games would match last year's 4-1 (2-0 SEC) start. Florida has lost 6 consecutive games, including 3 consecutive home games, and 24 of their last 34 games against Power 4 teams, dating back to a 37-34 home loss to LSU on 12/12/20. This is a must win road game because a loss at Florida would extend our road losing streak to 11 games and our losing streak against Power 4 teams to 4 games. Arkansas finished 4-8 (1-7 SEC) and lost 8 of 9 games against Power 4 teams last year. Since joining the SEC, we have won 11 of our last 12 games against Arkansas, and I don't see that changing this year.

Our toughest remaining games are against Missouri, LSU, Auburn, and Texas, and 3 of them are at home. Hopefully, we can win 2 of them. I think the LSU game is the most winnable because we have won 3 straight home games against LSU since 2018, including the last 2 by 13+ points each. The road games at Mississippi State and South Carolina are both likely wins. For these reasons, I still think the floor is 8-4, which would result in a 5-3 SEC record for just our 4th winning SEC record in 15 years. Also, both records would match Jimbo Fisher's first season in 2018. Hopefully, Mike Elko can exceed that by going 9-3 and 6-2 in SEC games.

you're basing that on the belief that ND has a good offense. and an elite defense.

With nothing to compare it to it very well could be our d is average and our offense is horrible. (this is the more likely possibility btw.)
