Los Pollos Hermanos.
Lunch plate and ice tea was around $3.50 and would fill you up easily.

BTW, Double Dave's has the best pizza. If you haven't tried them, be sure to do so.

I'm just gonna come right out and say it, wings n more is the most overrated restaurant in all of Aggieland. Crappy wing stop is 100x better.

I think it was Fat Burger that delivered by bicycle to the dorms on campus (Walton)

Double Dave Pepperoni Rolls were the best. I know the guy who made the ranch dressing by hand every day for years when I was there. you could stand a pepperoni roll up in it.

Sadly the quality at DD's has gone through the floor. Maybe someday it will be back to legendary status.

I was also very poor so I would question my opinion from back then,

Food doesn't always have to be gourmet to be good. All the matters is I love it.

This is the gospel right here. That was the most underrated and under appreciated eating spot in BCS in the 80's. It was the original Los Nortenos but ended up losing the name and had to open under Hermanos. Great people, great food.

For a boy from Mexico and then the RGV it was like an oasis in the desert in the sense that the cooks and the servers would make stuff for me, and later a group of us, off the menu. And when they would cook something special like Pozole or true Mexican style carnitas they would call us and let us know. They would also occasionally make hand made corn tortillas and real salsa's.

Facts. Loved their warm salsa, it cured hangovers instantly.

A fellow man of culture I see. I also miss Pepe's.

I haven't kept up with Chef Tai recently, but I was a Veritas regular with a certain chemistry professor of mine. I had so many delicious samples there complements of Chef Tai. It's a shame it's closed. I know he had at least one food truck and some other ventures, but damn them were some good times.

I also loved Potato Shack. So much so that when I took my non-Aggie GF to the promised land for her first Aggie home game last year, it was on my list of places that we needed to go. There are certainly fewer locations a decade later, but I'm glad to see they're still around. She liked the potato, but didn't quite get why such a restaurant would exist. I guess you just had to be there before Stat got so corporate.
