Ironically the two schools that are fighting for the 6A State title have the following demographics:
North Shore High School in Eastern Harris County is 71% Hispanic
Duncanville High School in Southern Dallas County is 53% Hispanic.

Aside from the INT that led to SV second FG, I'm not recalling any. A couple of turnover on downs at the expense of SV.

And just like that, SV corrals another INT to end AHS drive.

Are we recruiting Will Henderson RB at Gilmer? He is 5'10" 175 lbs but runs a 10.28 100 meters. Hard to believe he is only a 3 star. Reminds me of Aninas Smith. Looked very good against Bellville.

And every year it's about 99% of the starters on both sides are black. Just sayin.

Since you brought it up…. 5 of the 6 head coaches tomorrow are black. NS-Duncanville at 3pm will be the 1st matchup between 2 black head coaches in Texas State Championship history. The 7pm game between Desoto and Summer Creek will be the 2nd.

Below Average sized players are rarely 4*/5* guys When people wish that we focused on getting better players and not worrying about stars It is this kind of player they want
Elite football skills in an average sized package.

On the broadcast it said he had offers from UTSA and Texas State. So no one is recruiting him for some reason.

And neither of the teams will look remotely anything like the 71% or 53%.

Why are you making the skin color of the coach important?

Because he saw an article in the Houston Chronicle.
Like Morgan Freeman said regarding racism…stop talking about it, quit making a big deal about it.
Who cares if the head coaches are white , black, Mexican, Asian . Why is that even mentioned ?

He's a great talent and has vision and instincts. If he ends up at one of those two he'll likely be highly coveted from the portal in a year or two.

That was a complete domination last night.

Did anyone hear Ken Purcell, the retired coach in the cowboy hat who's on these telecasts every year, say Aledo's record run is due to "build it and they will come", and that they "don't recruit".

Again, I don't live up there and I'm not around this stuff daily, but I thought those comments would raise a few eyeballs. Why mention that in the first place?

From what I've heard he's a great kid/person too. Comparative to Ainias in terms of character and work ethic. Would love to see him in Kyle Field. I think he opened some eyes yesterday in Arlington. He came up big repeatedly on 3rd down. And on 4th down and I believe 7 on his last run to put the fame on ice.

PNG side of ATT is pretty full goal line to goal line still 1 hour before kickoff.

SOC vs PNG is going to be a nail biter.
This is the game I'm most looking forward to.

I think PNG gets revenge and upsets SOC with a last minute field goal.
PNG 30
SOC 28

PNG should have won last year. They could have held that lead in the 2nd half, but the constant pressure from the SOC defense caused them to collapse.

If they hold their composure they could possibly beat South Oak Cliff. SOC has the athletes to score very quickly when they need to...on offense or defense.
SOC is the last school to beat Aledo in the playoffs.

The teams today have a combined 5 losses. 4 of those are against each other.

11am- 5A- D2
Port Neches-Groves(14-1) vs South Oak Cliff(13-2)

3pm- 6A-D1
North Shore(15-0 vs. Duncanville(13-1)

7pm- 6A-D2
Summer Creek(14-1) vs DeSoto(14-0)

Lets be real here. Every school that's in the state Semi-Finals and Finals every year for the past 20-30 years is recruiting at some level.

"Recruiting" typically means identifying which 12-14 year old boys are trending like they are going to be huge, and getting them to move to your high school attendance zone.
Its been going on forever.

Every school does it in some sort of fashion. Kid might live in a suburb with 3 high schools. One of them is great at football, and the other two are mediocre.

The above averagely talented kid will probably choose to go to the better football school because he knows he will get superior coaching, and have a better chance at a scholarship. In some places its quite easy to move to an apartment complex in that suburb or city.

How does Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics end up winning two state championships for Flower Mound Marcus? Things that make you go hmmmm......

Truth be told it doesn't really bother me all that much. The only schools I don't respect are the gigantic ones like Allen and Plano ISD that stay absurdly big for the sole purpose of being good at sports.
Having 5,000 to 7,000 kids to pull from is an absurd advantage over normal sized high schools.
PhatMack19
How long do you want to ignore this user?
PNG kids are from PNG. Now that they've made back to back state games, kids may start moving in, but all their talent the last 2 years is homegrown.

While Working near Daingerfield, I have met one young man "built like a stud RB or LB roughly 6ft 200-220 lbs " that lives in the Daingerfield area but played ball in Gilmer. Also heard that the Horns commit in d'field moved to Carthage earlier in the year but then moved right back to d'field. No idea what happened there. So, even between these two powerhouse programs there is some decisions being made.

It shouldn't matter, but it is funny when people try to refute or paint it in a different light. Military families with good players did the same with Judson in their hey day. Recruiting or the "school sells itself" is semantics.

It is no different than what Mater Dei, Bosco, etc do here in CA, other than those schools would beat Duncanville/North Shore by 5-6 TD's.
