this statement is wrong

no proven performance with backup QB's

It's a team sport, and they were undefeated. Much better resume than Texas.

This decision was about generating TV ratings and fan base sizes, in order for the conferences to command higher advertising dollars. It wasn't about the competition or team records.

Of course the committee is subjective. We had a computer doing those rankings, and we hated it.

FSU had a good year, and if their qb doesn't go down, this isn't a discussion. But he did, and his two backups were okay, but nowhere near enough to declare they were a top 4 team right now.

With the opportunity to show off, texas crushed okie state, Michigan hammered Iowa, Bama beat the team that has been consensus number one for years, and FSU and their third string guy managed 55 passing yards in beating a crap Louisville team (that just lost to unranked Kentucky).

FSU, in their current iteration with backup qbs, is not one of the top 4 teams. There are no AQs.

So what happens if someone's QB gets injured in round 1 of the playoff? Does that team get replaced?

No they didn't.

They got the top 4 right. The fact FSU lost their starting and back up QB does matter.

Selling FSU would have been more palatable had they moved their ranking when their QB went down.

Let it go. A&M lost a game by 100 points in 2020.

Actually, A&M played Bama the closest of anyone in 2020. So GFY

Let me get this right...FSU cant be in bc their QB1 is out...they aren't that good.

But sip deserves to be in bc they have a reputable win over Bama...when their QB1 was not that good.

Makes perfect sense.

You must be as brain dead as the committee. FSUs backup QB will be available for the next game. He was a big step up from the true fish 3rd stringer. Sure, he a big step down from Travis but their D was lights out.

Bottom line, they got ****ed so sip could get in.

It only matters in how FSU changes their gameplan. It should NOT matter in the least in whether they make the cut. It's a cowardly excuse to keep them out. Nothing more.

Fortunately, this argument ends this year. In the future, teams *****ing about not getting the 12th seed can get ****ed.

Lol, the *****ing will never stop. The same amount of outrage will be placed on 13 next year, and we will all have to hear arguments about how we need a 16 team playoff. It will continue until we are at a 64 team playoff replacing bowl season.

And it should. Bowl season has been killed by the playoffs, nobody cares anymore about any other bowl. Expanded playoffs keep players from sitting out, and brings money and eyeballs to tertiary bowls like the Duke Mayo bowl.

Its an utter failure on the committees part and they deserve every bit of grief coming their way.

What this did was just took the mask off of the sport.

Most of us already knew this. This has been happening forever. It was just made crystal clear.

The only rational argument to make is that the playoff this year consists of conference champions, and the AAC was the weakest conference.

But that's a terrible take, FSU should be in. Every team had some close games or a loss against lesser competition than Louisville.

FSU AD has every right to be upset, somebody was going to be upset. All Power 5 Champions fighting for 4 playoff spots. Can't remember a time in the past when it was this tight, if so, somebody remind me..... Bottom line, all 5 had a valid argument to be there, FSU, in my opinion, was the worst team of the 5. What have you done for me lately, and FSU looked bad late, regardless of the reason. I think the committee got it right, and next year nobody will care what happened this year, a new era is upon us....

If we are a one loss team next year and our QB goes down in week 11, just curious if those who want fsu out will be good with A&M being left out in that scenario

I disagree. It looks like the first team that would have been left out of a 12 team playoff this year would have been OU. I don't think they would have much to complain about, and nobody would really care if they did.

Apparently you learned absolutely nothing from what just occurred. Winning? You have no business even using winning in your follow-up post. So you're saying a for example a #13 LSU team is better than #11 ole Miss or ND or PSU. Again it's all about bias Your still going to have the same issues.
Nope. Because #12 and 13 don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning 3 straight games against top 5 teams. So their inclusion/lack of inclusion doesn't matter. They likely lost 2-3 games in basically every year. They are there to make money, not be a threat. That's where winning matters. You wanna complain about not getting in? Don't lose.

FSU did not lose. They got left out despite not losing a single game. Now it is a beauty pageant instead of on the field results and the only result that matters is the final score.

Committee said last week that fsu was 4 and Texas was 7 and the only thing that happened was tu beat ok st and fsu beat Louisville.

Then they all of a sudden decide that fsu losing their qb isn't good enough to be in even though last week they said they were..... and again all they went and did was beat a higher ranked team than tu did JOKE

And your argument about Louisville being crap….. Ummmm osu got whipped by south alabama and ucf

Allof the teams had bad games or a loss.

Washington only beat Oregon by 3 in their championship game. FSU looking weak against Louisville is a bad argument, even if Oregon is a better team.

FSU should be in above Texas and Alabama.

They should be mad. Even with a QB out, their defense is good enough to be competitive in any game.

They have a better SOR than Texas, their win this week was better than Texas's, and they were ranked above Texas last week. They're the first team to be dropped out of the top 4 rankings in the last week for winning.

The committee was scared to leave Texas out. And that's pathetic.
no. the committee was scared to leave Bama/SEC out.

Texas beat Bama H2H. Both teams were conference champions. Both were 12-1. Any other metric is irrelevant.
