The extension was sheer effing stupidity but dumbo had to go.

He wasn't going to change the one thing holding the program back, and that was his program management. In fact, he would have kept Addazzio and ran the O the same way (Petrino has to use dumbo playbook and dumbo can override anytime he wants) if he came back. He wasn't going to get a ST coach. He basically told his bosses as much.

The extension gave him no real incentive to really change, and besides the cost, that is how it really hurt the program.

Like I said, I want us to win. What others think does affect the program whether you believe it or not. If you don't believe it, you are naive. Why do you think tu has a better winning record than we do and a better sports program overall? They have a winning image, and a national image. Geez you people want to accept mediocrity?
