A $10M functional wetard. His OL sucks again and he uses no short passing game or misdirection to mitigate...Shocking

Agreed. Jimbo does not seem to understand that his offense is scouted. He reminds me of Slocum. Totally predicable. Other teams have good athletes and Jimbo thinks that our boys will always out perform and out muscle the other team with the famous word "execution".

Good bye Petrino. He is justfying firing Petrino. Fisher threw his coach under the bus Fisher had no backbone.

Fisher recognizes that, and knows that his team has to just keep plugging away and getting more polished in their execution.

Ray Charles could come up with a defensive scheme that could stop Jimbo.

So what if we fire Petrino, no one wants to work under Jimbo now since they know he will still be in charge of playcalling.

It was apparent before Patrino was hired that any up and coming OC out there knew they wouldn't be calling plays. A&M got UNLV's sloppy seconds as a result.

But then you wonder why Jimbo could money whip Durkin or Elko into joining staff. He doesn't micromanage them or have the obsession with defense as he does with offense. The game has passed Jimbo and he's in denial.

If the offensive line was working this offense would be fine.

You act like they are running the I formation every play. This isn't so different than ever team in college football. Just when you can't block nothing works.

But here is the problem. In general, this offense is harder for an OL to be good at. This has been the case with 7 of Jimbo's last 9 teams. The OL is less than the talent suggests it should be. Under multiple OL coaches. 2018 and 2020 the exceptions.

We don't offer any help. We ask them to do more than other offenses. We don't do pre-snap motion, confuse defenses, etc. Defenses are able to tee off against us.

You put this same OL group in a more effective / consistent offensive system, and I belt they instantly look better. I don't think they would be great, but still look much better.

This isn't really true.

I don't agree with Fisher having him this high, but whether you believe it or not, Petrino was always high on his list. Plenty of OCs would have come here. Many wanted a particular OC on another board that was sure he'd come if we made the move. Petrino was always in Liucci's list from day one as one of the top 4-5 candidates.

And yes, Petrino is calling plays. Yes, it is Petrino's offense. Yes, another OC also would be calling plays if Petrino didn't come here.

We leave the least amount of blockers in per pass snap of any team in the sec every year.

We run the least amount of pre-snap motion of any team.

This is a harder offense for an OL, QB, and WR to run effectively. Look at the first half against Auburn trying to run the west coast concepts versus the 2nd half when we simplified things for Max. We then went away from a lot of what made Max tick in that Auburn game.

I am shocked by the offense... in how similar it looks to the offense that he has been running since he has been here. Makes me wonder if Petrino is really in charge of the offense, or if Jimbo is still calling the shots. Pretty sure it is the latter.

The offensive line is the biggest reason for the offensive struggles and the team's struggles in my opinion. The pass protection is an obvious issue and could be argued the reason Conner was knocked out with a season ending injury but the run blocking and rushing offense is also terrible. Texas A&M ranks 95th in rushing offense this season which is just awful given our talent at RB. So if you can't protect and you can't run the ball chances are your QB is going to be asked to do too much and that's exactly what's happened to Max. I think this offense would be fine even with pass protection issues if we could just run the ball.

It's Petrino's offense.

Many people who I trust with film said before the season the average fan wouldn't be able to tell the difference because they run all the same play designs/concepts. They have a different mentality in how to go about things. Fisher is more about running the play that fits the situation regardless of whether your team executes it. Petrino is more about running the plays your team best executes. Unfortunately, that isn't much right now, and why the breakdowns all look the same as before. But again, they run from the exact same play designs/concepts.

There's a reason Fisher hired Petrino, and no, it wasn't because he couldn't get anyone else. We most certainly could have. Maybe not Garrett Riley, but there were plenty of guys willing to come here at the salary we were capable of offering. It's because he runs the most similar system.

But it's not… and hasn't been for 3 years and no adjustments/mitigations seem to have been made to help this. We keep trying the same **** that hasn't been working. As others have said we utilize no quick passing plays or misdirection.

Its not Petrino's offense. Fisher is treating Petrino just like he did Darrell Dickey. Bet.
Fisher hired Petrino to satiate the boosters who were calling for his head. Petrino saw the money. The offense hasn't changed. Still hardly any motion. Still hardly any protection. Still no killer instinct. Still no run game. Still under-utilizing the studs. Still can't make up their mind on RB (Should be Moss). All of this screams Jimbo, not Petrino.

It most definitely is.

This is the same thing you would see if you turned on the tape of Petrino's offenses the last few years. The difference is that this OL at Missouri State could, in general, hold up against those conferences DLs.

This is exactly what the west coast offense looks like if the OL can't do their job and/or you don't have a QB that can elevate everyone around them.

No what you saw was Sherman being an idiot and choosing to be balanced over ramming the ball down the pigs throat giving Petrino free turn after free turn.

Petrino is a relic just like Jimbo and Addazio.

In a very different time and with personnel that Petrino had hand selected for years.

When your OL breaks down, which is common in this offense, it looks like a complete mess and discombobulates.

Did you watch Fisher's offense from 2012-2015? Does it look anything like what we are doing now? Yet, it's virtually the same. At least from a concept/design standpoint. He's tried to evolve over time and failed. Why deos Petrino's offense in 2010 matter but Fisher's in 2013 not?

whether it's petrino's offense or jimbo's offense, it ain't working, and since jimbo is the man in charge who hired petrino then he's on the block

fix it or you'll be out of a job.

It's not Petrino's offense. Petrino is calling plays within Jimbo's offense and it doesn't work. The problem is Jimbo not Petrino.

It was just a few weeks ago when the offense was the bright spot of the team and everyone was calling for Durkin's head because of the defense. Now it's the complete opposite.

" Fisher is more about running the play that fits the situation regardless of whether your team executes it. Petrino is more about running the plays your team best executes."

How do you know this? This makes no sense. Why would a coach put his players in a situation where they may not execute or even have those plays to begin with?

If Jimbo was a basketball coach we would hope to see him as Phil Jackson drawing up a play using Jordan as a decoy or clearing the way for him in the paint. Instead, Jimbo would have him dish it out to Rodman for the fade away three. Then exclaim how the execution just wasn't there.

No, it's the meathead HC, dummy.

Fisher is too stubborn and dumb to adapt to an offense that puts his QB and WRs in a position to make plays against any slightly above average defense.

It is difficult for the OL to block when the WRs run routes that take 5 second to develop and they don't adjust for the coverage. The UT last play is a perfect example, was basically 2 WR against 6 DBs

The offensive line is the biggest reason for the offensive struggles and inability to sustain scoring drives. Because of horrible pass protection and run blocking, Max Johnson is asked to carry too much of the load. The obvious example is a costly safety allowed in a 26-20 loss to Alabama at home. If the pass protection and run blocking was competent, the offense would be able to score enough points to win one or maybe both of the last two games.

Ya'll keep mentioning offensive line not blocking. That's the story every year since he's been here except for the 1 year when we went 9-1. You'd think Jimbo and co would find a way to mask that deficiency. That's exactly why he's paid $10MM a year. Maybe try something like adjusting your scheme to the strengths of your personnel instead of letting other teams expose their weaknesses week in and week out. How did Layden Robinson go from being ALL SEC 1st team in 2021 to being so crappy? How did Bryce Foster go from being the future of the SEC at center to playing so bad? How many 4 and 5 star linemen that don't reach their potential have to come through here before something clicks in Jimbo's mind that it's not the players? I highly doubt the Utahs and TCUs of the college football world bring in the caliber of offensive line recruits that A&M does, and hey seem to do just fine with what they have. This is ALL on Jimbo and his damn stubbornness. The head coach is supposed to put his team in the best position to win with what he's got. I've yet to see this out of Jimbo.
