I'll bet they aren't choosing us for a dj either (not a knock against it) I'm guessing they choose us for academics, facilities, coaches, overall atmosphere, Aggie Network work, etc. FACTS!
I sat in the North End zone for the Alabama game and I didn't hear anything from the band the entire game except drums. Nothing. It wasn't soft sounds...it wasn't occassional sound ...nothing from our 500+ member FTAB which is known for their volume and not their musical talent. Nothing. I didn't think it was possible not to hear the band.pothag2012 said:
Just my 2 cents.
- Move the band. Half the stadium cannot hear them. North Zone is ideal. I sit 4 sections down from FTAB on the 1st deck and it feels like they are 20 miles away.
- Chill with the music. Every kick-off and defensive possession the 12th man noise is being drowned out by the DJ. Less is more man.
- Use the band more than music. There has to be some more up tempo military songs in their set list.
- Entrance is garbage. Go to song people know with more build up in tunnel. Put in a gate at the end of the tunnel to increase suspense.
Turning into a pro atmosphere, and looks unlikely to turn back around. Enrollment has increased season ticket and student sport pass sales, it's not the Kyle Field atmosphere.

I am just absolutely repulsed by the thought of a DJ and loud music.
That's not football to me.

Do you want to win football games or go back to what Kyle Field was like 20 years ago?
Times change and a big part of being a successful football program is changing with the times. Some may not like it, but ultimately it comes down to whether or not the recruits and players like it.
Nope. '83 and definitely OLD ARMY!aeon-ag said:Classes of '80 and beyond!pothag2012 said:
I am not sure what the age definition of New Army is for you. No old-timer here.

I was shocked at how quiet the stadium was during the game against South Carolina
watching the live TV feed I could literally hear the South Carolina players on the field calling out plays

Y'all need to quit complaining on here and actually write the AD or get a petition going to remove the DJ.

It was definitely subdued, but it was loud at times. I think it's just the overall apathy of this season.
Once again, we were looking forward to the lot and got knocked down early. And South Carolina is not a good team either so even getting a win over them was not as exciting. Not excusing it, just explaining it.
And this is coming from someone who has had season tickets for almost 40 years.
I miss the college atmosphere of the 80s and 90s, early 2000s personally. I understand why they have to update some of this but the music is definitely too loud and I don't mean that from 'I'm older person and it's loud' I mean it's dumb loud when you cant even talk to the person next to you.
And yes, playing music up to the kick off is not cool. I also miss the Gig Em on the kick offs.
It's really awful.

Did anyone else have issues with Kyle security at the SC game? I think it was a new squad, I didn't recognize the blue shirt security from previous games this year. They were giving everyone hell, particularly confiscating people's sealed waters. We've been able to bring in sealed water no problem since my freshman year in 2007, now they're claiming "staff meeting this morning said we can't allow it." My buddy joked that they were probably hired by Levi to force you to buy whatever concessions don't sell out by the end of the 1st.
Yeah, a lot of confiscated sealed bottles and gallons of water. I thought it was funny that some people were allowed to bring pumpkins (not jack-o'-lanterns) but not water bottles.bankshot11 said:

None of which are nearly as irritating as half the crowd making more noise on that f'ing God forsaken "FIRST DOWN" bs as they do when it's third down on defense and could actually use some noiseannie88 said:LMCane said:

Maybe you could start a new genre, military sprinting bands.

I wanted to echo the comment that there is no such thing as up tempo march music. That said.
My Dad played bass drum in the band. He was really old army class '51. He was watching the halftime show a few years back and noticed the band had increased their tempo a few beats per minute. "My roommate used to march behind me with a watch and he called out the time while the bass drummers counted beats. A few hundred hours of that and we could keep that tempo in our sleep."
He eventually called the band director and asked if they had adjusted the tempo recently and he said, "Yeah, how in the world did you know?"
LOL
