Kyle Field atmosphere is deteriorating.

Just my 2 cents.
  • Move the band. Half the stadium cannot hear them. North Zone is ideal. I sit 4 sections down from FTAB on the 1st deck and it feels like they are 20 miles away.
  • Chill with the music. Every kick-off and defensive possession the 12th man noise is being drowned out by the DJ. Less is more man.
  • Use the band more than music. There has to be some more up tempo military songs in their set list.
  • Entrance is garbage. Go to song people know with more build up in tunnel. Put in a gate at the end of the tunnel to increase suspense.

Turning into a pro atmosphere, and looks unlikely to turn back around. Enrollment has increased season ticket and student sport pass sales, it's not the Kyle Field atmosphere.

I hope you wrote a strongly worded letter to the Athletic Director.

The entrance would be great with more build up like you said. More build up and let the music ride for about 15 seconds longer.

I think if the pyrotechnics start working that will help. And I think it will look a lot better at night under the lights.

I am just absolutely repulsed by the thought of a DJ and loud music.

That's not football to me.

I am not sure what the age definition of New Army is for you. No old-timer here.

Things are always changing. We are in a mid-evolution down period with the current state of things. The kinks will be worked out over time and the product at Kyle Field will one day again be exemplary.

us real old timers listened to rock concerts back in the day that would make your head spin.

Having said that I agree with OP. Let the crowd and Aggie band make the noise.

TerryP17 just revealed himself as the Kyle Field DJ. Not trying to remove your job Terry just reduce your air time.

We are evolving to the lowest common denominator "generic loud college football stadium hype" experience. Blindfold someone and bleep out any time the PA system says anything about "Texas" "A&M" or "Aggie/s" and they wouldn't be able to tell you which stadium they were in. We used to be unique. My wife and I share 2 season tickets with my sister and BIL, and I'm more and more often offering them the seats.

Do you want to win football games or go back to what Kyle Field was like 20 years ago?

Times change and a big part of being a successful football program is changing with the times. Some may not like it, but ultimately it comes down to whether or not the recruits and players like it.

The west side can hear the band just fine. It's just the nature of sound in a stadium.

The FTAB plays Marches. There is no such thing as an up tempo "march."
Maybe you could start a new genre, military sprinting bands.

Entrance sounds like a heavy weight boxing match from the 80s.

Kenneth, have you never heard them speed up the tempo of their songs such as "hot time". Not talking about marching bro.

"There is no such thing as an up tempo "march." OH??!! what the hell is a sprinting band??!!
Being of 2003 We wouldn't expect you to understand. Most military march are for troop inspiration Listen to Sousa marches, if this doesn't do something for you, you must be dead! So you vote for the DJ!

move the band? how about putting some microphones next to them. Modern technology is amazing.

adding "up tempo military song"? my god.

Let the band do the band thing at halftime and let the DJ do his thing during the games.

Aggie band is cool, but one thing is for sure is that the top recruits in America aren't choosing A&M because of its military marching band playing exciting marching songs during the games. FACT

Are you implying that posting complaints in this forum are not getting to the decision makers at A&M?

And that these complaints are just being seen by internet randoms?

I am shocked, I tell ya...shocked!

They tried the microphone approach. It failed and it may be against NCCA rules today.

To clarify on the up tempo music: Not asking for an all out song, but something short between plays.

I agree with your aggie band comment on recruits not giving a d***, but they could be utilized more during the game. If it just making noise, it would be better. Bands are there to support the football team, even if we have the FTAB that shouldn't be forgotten.

Guess the game went pretty well if we're biching about the entrance instead of how we played...

If we're going to change the entrance, (not this $#!+ again), have the band on the field for spirit and stay on the field for the entrance. I like the drum cadence we already have at the entrance. Keep that. "Them Bases" is the only song that might work for the entrance. Team could run in through the block T in the band after the hype video. Sure it would look a lot like Tennessee, but they hype up their people with the band instead of DJ music. Band can then start the war hymn and march down the field and disburse like at half time. I wouldn't mind having the Block T pregrame and aTm as the half time closer if it's too repetitive.

Or just keep everything the same.

Recruits care about deafening atmospheres. DJ does not accomplish that, so don't understand that argument.

The music should be encouraging people to yell louder - it should not be overpowering to the point of discouraging people to yell.
