Wanted to share an update.

Arizona is heading to the Big 12 in the next week or two. Not a huge surprise for some.

The big one is Florida State is announcing they are heading to the Big 10 over the next two weeks. The real shocker is that Clemson may be going with them now.

Clemson was very unhappy from a recent meeting with ESPN and FOX is willing to fund the bill.

Unless ESPN comes back to the table with $, the SEC's loss is the Big 10's gain.

August 15th is the deadline to watch.

Yes, it's widely available to not subscribe to.

I have no confidence that Snakey can figure out and execute what is best for the SEC.

The best sign of this is that he let texas join.

If FSU and Clemson go to the B1G, Snakey will be completely exposed for the incompetent worm that let another conference eclipse the best conference in America.

If true NC and UVA will follow them to the B10. Add ND and the B10 has won realignment hands down. The SEC will forever be behind financially

A requirement to join the big 10 is to be an AAU member. Neither Clemson or Florida State are.

I'm just thinking about how the Clemson and FSU fans will enjoy trips to Iowa City, Chicago and Bloomington, IN versus Athens, Auburn and Knoxville……NOT!

This is laughable.

My limited understanding of GOR means it would work out this way
FSU & Clemson bring no revenue until the GOR is resolved
If A&M were to play at Clemson the rights would belong to the ACC broadcast partners
( Which is similar to playing @ Norte Dame NBC televises that game )
Of course Clemson & FSU would like a share of revenue while the GOR is resolved so 2 teams bringing in no revenue and each wanting a share is approximately 2/19 or a little over 10 % of the net worth of the current deal. If they were granted full shares upon entry into the league
I am not a TV rights lawyer but i did stay at a Holiday inn Express this weekend

Because the BDF grant of rights was expiring relatively soon tu and paper clip had some ability to leave and some leverage to negotiate an exit fee
Iirc ACC GOR goes for another decade

Florida State will announce their intentions to leave the ACC by August 15th.

Florida State insiders are reporting this.

ESPN will need to pony up more $$ or lose them all to FOX.

I don't see the ACC moves happening soon. However, I don't see what FSU really adds. I doubt the Big 10 would take them because of their mediocre academics anyway.

Florida State has higher ranked academics than Texas A&M.

54th nationally vs 67th.

Their administration is heavily pursuing AAU status (like newly announced Miami and USF) so that appeals to the Big 10.

Regardless FOX is pursuing revenue and market share.

Within higher education circles in the U.S. and Canada there is no higher honor than to be affiliated with the AAU. Florida State is not in the Association of American Universities (AAU) but Texas A&M is. The AAU members are considered the leading research universities and have to meet strict standards to get in and stay in. Nebraska was expelled in 2011. Other schools in the SEC include Vanderbilt, Florida and Missouri. Texas is also a member of the AAU. Membership in the association is by invitation.

LOL, are they going to announce their move for 2036?

The GOR is real, it's not something they can walk away from. It was created for this very reason.

Nebraska is not an AAU school athough they once were. But not necessarily a requirement any more because of that.

The networks (FOX-ESPN) will come to a resolution on the financials of the GOR. FSU is paying the exit fee (separate from GOR).

August 15th.

Why on earth would ESPN negotiate an increase in fees so they can put FSU in the B10? Can you explain that part?

FOX would pay ESPN to hold partial rights to Florida State games. ESPN would be leasing out their rights for cash.

It's above my head the exact financial details of who's paying who but FSU is announcing they are leaving the ACC by August 15th.

Board of Regents meeting next week.

" Intentions " is the key word
FSU might announce they want out but that does not mean they have a viable exit strategy

Well if the B1G actually pulls both FSU and Clemson, congrats to them. They will have fully outmaneuvered the SEC
