Big decommit last year; now listed as the 5th string QB on Alabama depth chart. Surprising to me.

Could be; makes sense, but 5th string? That's what is surprising to me.

Five classes…I'm guessing the peel off after the class behind them goes ahead of them. Revert to ATH or transfer.

It suggests he wasn't an immediate solution but more of a project QB.

They all can't be hits, a lot of highly rated QBs never start at power 5s. Even before the transfer rule changes QBs were pretty much the only position that would transfer like crazy

Usually QBs are the best athletes in their high school teams and often in multiple sports. My sophomore year Wade Wilson (RIP…later starter at Vikings and QB coach forever with Cowboys) not only ran the table in season (though losing bi-district) but took care of the fairly rare punting duties, too.

By all reports he's a great teammate. One early entry was about to quit... he was practically in tears as he told Saban he just din't have the stomach for this.

Multiple times a season I read "jumbos playbook is incredibly difficult" but we still see 18-19 year old qbs starting and making 'I forgot the play mistakes'


My opinion is that Holstein would be 1 or 2 here. And he would make the same dumb mistakes as others had.

Saban is putting in a 1st year very often bc young qbs male Aggie mistakes.


Moral of the story - jimbos playbook is not any more difficult than sabans…he is just dumb enough to start freshman over and over.

I get that people like to say "keep grinding!" but Bama brings in a fresh set of five stars every year. It's kind of a steep hill from the five spot to ever throw a pass at Bama.

Nobody knows what CW is gonna be, if he's even the starter. People see what they wanna see sometimes, nobody in the SEC is sitting there worried about the Aggie qb situation at this point. Maybe he's the guy, the jury is still way out, and to say otherwise is just hoping.

REMEMBER ~ tu passed on Johnny Manzel as a QB...wanted him to switch to DB. Johnny spent a year under Sherman and it wasn't until after he came back from George Whitfield's training program that he excelled. Stetson Bennett from Georgia didn't really accomplish much until his senior year. Eli will be an excellent QB.

Honestly…….I'd already forgotten about the guy

Alabama brought in another HS QB in the same class as Holstein. I'm guessing he is ahead of Holstein. They also brought in a transfer QB. Plus, the five star from the '22 class and Milroe. 5th string sounds about right.
