Texas A&M adds former UTSA TE Houston Thomas via transfer portal

Former UTSA tight end Houston Thomas has announced his intentions to transfer to Texas A&M. A College Station native, he caught 78 passes for 918 yards (11.5 average) and five touchdowns across three seasons for the Roadrunners.

Tight end Houston Thomas, a College Station native, is returning home via the transfer portal for his final season of college football after three seasons at UTSA.

During his time in the Alamo City, the 6-foot-5, 245-pounder caught 78 passes for 918 yards (11.5 average) and five touchdowns.

This past season, he hauled in 34 receptions for 347 yards — a slight dip from a 2024 campaign that saw him nab the same number of catches for 470 yards.

As a senior at College Station, Thomas featured primarily as a wide receiver. He camped in front of Jimbo Fisher's staff on multiple occasions and had the Aggies really thinking about offering due to his long-term upside. Since then, he has added the requisite weight and strength to play tight end while maintaining his natural ball skills that were apparent early on in his development. He's an impressive route runner for his size.

Thomas graduated from College Station in the same class as Mike Elko's son. He's the first commitment out of the transfer portal in this window.

Solid pickup, but fyi, None of our issues were due to TE receiving play. It was the guy passing the ball. I don't remember Thor dropping a pass since last year.

I like this signing. This is an athletic TE that can catch the ball and get some YAC. The fact he is hometown and went to 3-5 Aggie games per year is a bonus. Easy guy to root for!

I do remember thor missing lots of blocks in his time here though.

And against tu, he caught a pass and decided to go out of bounds rather than taking on a 210 safety. While texas TE carried our safety for 15-20 yards down the field

I recall serious discussion in planning for UTSA that this kid was a future pro. I think he will be a focus for our offense next year.

Hoping Thor finds the right place for him to continue his development and sufficient playing time to hone his skills - as he was a loyal Aggie and enthusiastic teammate.

He is by far the most annoying poster on here. I just want Reed to enter the Portal so everyone on here would see how high he would be ranked. Then it would be "we gotta go get that guy!"

Someone slandered Thor, so I replied that Thor did fine receiving the ball when a pass got to him. And you must not get out if you're not seeing widespread criticism of our passer.
