2023 College Station linebacker Chantz Johnson signs with Texas A&M
Texas A&M has landed the signature of hometown LB Chantz Johnson out of College Station High School.
Johnson announced live on-air during TexAgs Radio’s Early Signing Day Show.
The son of A&M assistant strength coach Jerry Johnson, Chantz becomes the 17th commitment of the 2023 class and joins Katy Paetow's Daymion Sanford and Temple’s Taurean York in Tyler Santucci's linebacker room.
At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Johnson has primarily played on the end of the line of scrimmage as a standup linebacker in his high school career, but he does flash enough juice and straight-line speed that — coupled with his current size — could lend itself to playing in the middle of the defense at the next level. He plays with an extremely high motor, shows a good feel for the game/football IQ and has a verified 40-yard dash time of 4.53.
You can view some of his senior highlights below.
Johnson chooses the Aggies over Arizona State.
