Yes, there have been all sorts of erroneous reports today, but unfortunately, the Pirate probably won't be able to survive this crisis.Anti-taxxer said:

If the pirate pulls through the rumors of his demise will make for some great stories.
I feel like if he was truly brain dead and taken off life support we would have known that by now.

You can lose your frontal cortex function and maintain brain stem function. So essentially being brain dead but still breathing. Eventually you will starve unless they put in a feeding tube and why do that if their brain is toast. Therefore he is in hospice care and it is just a matter of time.
Quote:
Neville: Our coaches would make coffee, and he would get into the meeting, drink it and be like, "What the **** is this ***** This is horse*****" He'd tell Drew (Hollingshead), he'd be like, "Drew, go make me another cup of coffee with some real *****"
Halliday: We would drink our coffee, dip our tobacco and basically just tell stories for three hours.
Apodaca: You come up there with your notebook, which you're probably not going to write much in. He's not saying, "Hey, write this down."
Anderson: Not at all.
Apodaca: We're literally watching film like you would watch a YouTube video. We're watching through it and if there's something that pops out, he'll go back. I kid you not, sometimes he would be pressing the rewind button for freaking 14 minutes talking about the Cody, Wyo., rodeo or some **** like that and you're just like, "What is going on in here?" The same thing would be playing back and forth because he would just rewind, let it play, rewind, let it play. We wouldn't even be watching it. We'd just be talking about Native Americans or his surfing lessons in California.
Anderson: One keyword can set him off.
Apodaca: Meanwhile, everyone has a big dip in, we're drinking the most expensive espresso that you can find. I mean, this stuff is damn near a Monster Energy drink because it's so strong.
Tuel: Connor had to sit out of a passing drill one time because he was so jittery or something. He was so juiced up on that stuff.
Apodaca: Yeah, man. That's a normal meeting.

My aunt went thru this. Family kept her on a ventilation machine for 3 weeks before reality set in. Sad but difficult decisions are being made within that family right now. They deserve the respect to make their own decisions in their own time. Not big fan of people waiting around for his passing, but I understand the curious nature of the situation.

I offer this alleged story in the truest sense of the term, heresay overruled (i.e., not offered for the truth of the matter asserted).
I HEARD that years ago when both Bobby Knight and Leach were at tech, Knight approached Leach at a bar one night and Leach was, well, ripped. Knight said, "you are a disgrace to this university," or words to that effect.
Now, assuming this actually happened (I believe my source believes it is true -- i.e. he wouldn't just tell me a rumor without stating it was that), there's a lot to unpack here.
1. Bobby Knight telling ANYONE they are a disgrace is a bit hypocritical.
2. How can ANYONE be a disgrace to tech?
3. Remember who Bobby Knight had on his staff at tech for at least part of his time there? (If you don't, it was Chris Beard; see other news reports today on him).
and finally,
4. Leach and wasted doesn't seem to rank up there withDewey Defeats Truman.
Oh, well.
Sad news indeed about Leach. I wasn't a fan and don't hold him in as high of regard as many on here, but I certainly would have wanted him to live long and prosper.

My family went through this with a sibling. The longer you keep them on a ventilator, the longer they can live after taking them off of it (but it doesn't change the outcome). There's no right or wrong answer with this one. Each family has to do what they think is best.Seabreeze said:KidDoc said:1939 said:

Man, that guy is going to have a ball in the afterlife. No need to sleep and an insatiable appetite for knowledge. He will have a decade long conversation with Milton Hershey and Sacajawea, simultaneously. Wouldn't surprise me to find him still talking to Saint Pete at the gates when I get there in 30 years.aglaes said:
