My initial reaction was any sort of throat cancer rumor would likely be inconsistent with an immediate medical emergency considering his recent overall reasonable appearance of health.

Rumors of a potentially severe heat attack seem more plausible. Hope he not only survives but hope we get to see him on a sideline again. If not, I hope it occurred either with those he loved or doing something he loved.

People are always in way too much of a rush to pretend they know something about a breaking news story. Even if a theory turns out to be true, absolutely nothing is accomplished by spreading rumors and speculation as if it were personal knowledge. That's the worst thing about sports message boards.

Aortic dissection killed my dad. Bad news if that's what happened to him. You've got seconds, minutes if you are lucky, if that's what happens to you.

As someone who has been diagnosed with an aortic aneurism, your only shot is to address it early, because once is ruptures there is no value in cpr or what might be required for a traditional heart attack. Hope he can recover from this.

Typically with an abdominal aortic aneurysm that ruptures, 90% don't make it to the hospital. Of the 10% that do, half don't make it out of the hospital.

For an aortic dissection, that requires an emergency cardiac surgery that involves stopping not only the heart, but the total blood circulation for a period of time. It has a high mortality rate as well.

If it's an abdominal aortic aneurysm the odds are terrible, but I know people who lived. The guy was at home and suddenly became very sick. He required immediate emergency surgery. He had several issues after and was forced into retirement in his early 60's but he lived.

Not bad for an aircraft that has to beat its surroundings into submission to fly

I get it. We want real news so we all know what in the hell is going on. I'd guess almost everybody to a person here wants to know Mike isn't in a dire situation because he got the help he needed in time, and is on the path back to recovery. That he will soon be on his way home, and then back on the sidelines next fall to break it off sideways on us.
