You don't win a game like this without continuity.

Say what you want about this season and Jimbo, but tonight shows that he never lost the team like some on here wanted us to believe.

Sure, a few guys will hit the portal(as will always be the case), but I don't think we will lose many, if any key players.
This has to be a joke, right? Like, total and complete satire?

Even if you really believe this, you have given us the perfect example of a thread you don't start, just because it has reasonable potential to age poorly and become message board fodder on the interwebs.

Nice to win, but man, let's keep things in perspective and hope that our coach and athletic program pull through and retain most our talent before puffing the chest out about a 2-6 finish.

There is not going to be any Mass Exodus.
Never was.
A few will leave and that's fine.
However, we might have turned the tables on a few recruits tonight.
We'll see.

I would have liked to keep quite a few of those guys. The main ones I wanted to keep were not really an exodus though, they were apparently not allowed back on the team. When you get rid fo those big names it is mostly just gutted depth, which is a concern if we can't refill through portal. The program seemed to dislike LJ Johnson for some reason. Tunmise may come back strong...and we'd still love to have Andrew White and Myles Jones experience. Smoke Bouie may be the most disappointing.

This is such an easy question to answer.
Ask any maroon colored glasses wearing texagger.
Nothing to see here move along.
"We'll be just fine"
"They weren't starters"
"They didn't want to play football"

Can't you see it? Can't you just feel the wheels turning....maybe this is what happened.
Our BOR is so intelligent that they created an Aggie think-tank but in an alternate universe.
In that reality, this is beautful and wonderful. Our team and record next year will be much better because we are leading the nation in portal entrants. In their minds, most won't actually get accepted to other teams (especially the 5-stars) and since no walk-ons have hit the transfer portal yet, we are going to be national champions.
We weren't actually 5-7, this universe means that we were actually 11-1 with our only loss to the pirate.
We've strung together a decade of 10win seasons for the past 10 decades.

Their think tank also came up with Dumbo, because asking an Aggie about how to do anything that involves a win at the sport of football is like asking your dog which chess move you should make. No need to roll up a newspaper and spank him when he's wrong, he's too stupid to know anything about it and has proven that over his lifetime.

For instance, ridiculous apologists on here sometimes say that ww2 caused lopsided numbers of loses in the series to the non-rival school that is in the Aggie war hymn while the truth is that for the first 8 games of the series, the Aggies never scored a point (1894-1902). Dumbo is apparently trying to recreate the pre-ww1 flint-lock armed era where even then, the only reason Haynes King would have been chosen as the starter for two years but wouldn't have thrown 10 interceptions for every touchdown pass is that they hadn't yet invented the forward pass.

We'll have a great defense with wonderful linebackers (from the portal because they are beating down the door to college station at every portal entry), a great group of cornerbacks and safeties (because we didn't lose any), and our offense will be loaded at running back because we'll be young there, and our offensive line and qb will be young but very experienced at the same time (which can be the case in alternate universes).

A coach's kid receiver hit the portal because his Dad didn't cook good ribs the last pool party, not because his Dad recognized that he'd be better off leaving.

Honestly I still don't care. If those players want to try to find NIL money then more power to them. It means they had poisoned with their, "gonna get me some payday".

Unhappy, jealous players are not good to have. Cut them lose and open up the roster to players who want to come play.

And lose a lot…more. We need solid talent to be competitive. But, yea, they need to view it as a job AND SCOTUS ruled 9-0 that the schools have to compete in educational benefits. Right now Alston payments are being distributed monthly in partial fulfillment of that decision. About $5,980 per year currently above the traditional grants in aid.

If head coaches deserve millions then athletes are meeely indentured servants unless fully compensated per the revenue the schools take in. Goresuch sis heated gelogully that the best protection against anti-trust actions in the future might be a collective bargaining agreement in fact in the decision.

The notion anyone can turn back the clock can only be fulfilled by deleveraging. Start with paying off Jimbo, the other coaches, and all outstanding bonds and obligations. Then move out of D1 to some division where your strategy can dominate.

The lack of revenue will also delouse expectations and we can turn Kyle into Rice Stadium!!!

This is one of those threads that didn't age properly lol. The OP is a fool for posting it so early knowing there was a lot of time left for more transfers. Oh well typical of our fans, always trying to be "positive." No accountability because hey we shouldn't criticize the coaches or players because it will hurt their feelings bc they read these message boards lol.

Have there been many key players we lost to the portal? Maybe I missed it?

If we don't get some key players from the portal, I will be disappointed.

From that list, only white is a loss with his tackle totals. Chase isn't imo because he's unable to get separation against good dbs and his hands can be suspect regardless of his numbers. The rest areyoungunproven players who were highly recruited as all our players are.

King and Stowers were going to be backups, and so can find opportunities elsewhere.

I'm sad about losing Yulkeith and Chris Marshall, but Marshall was unavoidable. Lane was a fine player, but he's a 5th year senior that can find an opportunity somewhere else where he's higher on the depth chart.

Smith is 3rd string TE.

I'm sad about Adeleye, but we have plenty of depth at DL.

Agree that White Jr is a loss, but if we get a quality starter from the portal we're fine. This is another 5th year senior like Lane that has a degree and can find an opportunity somewhere else.

Denver Harris was unavoidable. I'd have like to have kept Myles Jones, but it seems we have plenty of options there with our young guys.

Lol at those who think losing all these guys isn't a big problem going forward.

As of now we need to replace 41 scholarship players for next year. That's nearly half the roster. All those depth losses are going to be huge if we have lots of injury issues next year.

LSU had to play the portal game last year and they won the West. I don't like it either, but if Jimbo actually takes advantage of the portal it might work out for us.
