Mike Elko and Texas A&M continue to build momentum on the 2027 front, and today, the Aggies hit the West Coast for one of California's best as defensive lineman Myels Smith‍ announced his commitment.

The Los Angeles (CA) Inglewood standout checks in at 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, and he is a bully in the trenches. He explodes off the ball with a quick first step and a powerful punch and gets immediate pressure as he relocates the line of scrimmage. His bullrush is particularly overwhelming. The power and force quickly put opposing offensive linemen on their heels and oftentimes on their backs. He also brings position versatility to the defensive front. Primarily an interior prospect, he has lined up at several spots along the line from defensive tackle all the way to a stand-up edge.

Smith was offered by the Aggies in January, and defensive line coach Tony Jerod-Eddie has led the Aggies’ recruiting efforts. He visited College Station for A&M’s comeback win over South Carolina, and in early December, he named the Aggies to his top six, which also included Arizona State, Cal, Nebraska, USC and Washington.

With his pledge, he becomes the Aggies’ ninth commitment of the 2027 recruiting class and joins DT Elijah Patmon‍ and Edge Kaden McCarty‍ on the defensive front. The Aggies’ seventh defensive addition to the class, he is regarded as a four-star prospect and one of the top prospects in California.

In addition to A&M and his other finalists, Smith also received offers from the likes of Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio State, Oregon, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA and Utah.
