so how are we feeling about a mass exodus now.
it's, um, er, been more than a few
This is such an easy question to answer.
Ask any maroon colored glasses wearing texagger.
Nothing to see here move along.
"We'll be just fine"
"They weren't starters"
"They didn't want to play football"
Can't you see it? Can't you just feel the wheels turning....maybe this is what happened.
Our BOR is so intelligent that they created an Aggie think-tank but in an alternate universe.
In that reality, this is beautful and wonderful. Our team and record next year will be much better because we are leading the nation in portal entrants. In their minds, most won't actually get accepted to other teams (especially the 5-stars) and since no walk-ons have hit the transfer portal yet, we are going to be national champions.
We weren't actually 5-7, this universe means that we were actually 11-1 with our only loss to the pirate.
We've strung together a decade of 10win seasons for the past 10 decades.
Their think tank also came up with Dumbo, because asking an Aggie about how to do anything that involves a win at the sport of football is like asking your dog which chess move you should make. No need to roll up a newspaper and spank him when he's wrong, he's too stupid to know anything about it and has proven that over his lifetime.
For instance, ridiculous apologists on here sometimes say that ww2 caused lopsided numbers of loses in the series to the non-rival school that is in the Aggie war hymn while the truth is that for the first 8 games of the series, the Aggies never scored a point (1894-1902). Dumbo is apparently trying to recreate the pre-ww1 flint-lock armed era where even then, the only reason Haynes King would have been chosen as the starter for two years but wouldn't have thrown 10 interceptions for every touchdown pass is that they hadn't yet invented the forward pass.
We'll have a great defense with wonderful linebackers (from the portal because they are beating down the door to college station at every portal entry), a great group of cornerbacks and safeties (because we didn't lose any), and our offense will be loaded at running back because we'll be young there, and our offensive line and qb will be young but very experienced at the same time (which can be the case in alternate universes).
A coach's kid receiver hit the portal because his Dad didn't cook good ribs the last pool party, not because his Dad recognized that he'd be better off leaving.
