Based on the true definition of the word rivalry that essentially makes everyone who competes against each other rivals. And we haven't competed against UT since leaving the Big 12. Of course fans of the team getting their teeth kicked in want it to be a true sports rivalry.

Dude, you're on an A&M message board faking like you're an Aggie to explain how little you care about the Aggies. You are the proof that this is a rivalry.

You're so irrational about how unsuccessful we've been against UT to the point where your imagination is not running rampantly. You need this to be a rivalry for whatever reason. I need the program to start winning and competing for conference titles and eventually NCs. No way I can look at our record against UT alone with the actual definition of rivalry and consider that a rivalry.

This game determined a conference champion hardly ever and really never had any national importance.

It's a good in state matchup with no real history of national title or conference title implications.

He's trying really hard. It's impressive

Is he on OU or OSU message board telling them how Bedlam isn't really a rivalry? At least it keeps him off f16 telling us how racist Jerry jones is.

Over the entire history of the tu A&M rivalry.....

tu dominates. 76-37-3. A&M won less than half the games. Most people outside of Texas wouldn't call that a "rivalry" at all.

HOWEVER. if you look at the last 50 years, starting in 1972, this thing heats up. tu 21 A&M 19.
Now that looks like a damn good rivalry, and it was stupid to discontinue it.

As far as LSU...Who cares? you can't just artificially create a "rivalry". Which is why playing in the SEC is such as drag for me. Way too many of these games lack what I call "juice". Okay, maybe Arkansas. ( Old SWC). maybe Alabama ( Bear Bryant). after that? Missouri ZZZZZZ....Auburn ZZZZZ. South Carolina ZZZZZ. Old Miss ZZZZ
Miss St. (Jerry Clower and ZZZZZZ). And the SEC making us play an OOC game near the end of the season? UMASS ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

A few years ago, we were playing Ole Miss on the road. Sumlin may have still been here.. Boring game, boring opponent. I actually switched over to tu vs TCU at Amon Carter field. Damn good game. My wife asked me why I was watching them instead the Aggies , I said " this used to be my old neighborhood, and I miss my old neighborhood." ( Okay...before any of you zealots wanna burn me at the stake, I switched back and forth.)

Maybe I'm just getting older. And this has very little to do with this dismal season. I've felt this way for quite awhile. The SEC just doesn't do it for me. I miss my old neighborhood.

The Texas and Texas A&M rivalry goes well beyond football and sports.

Best of luck against Baylor.

Your act is interesting. You frequently use terms like "obsessed, emotional, irrational" in your responses. That's the kind of language people use to discredit something without actually addressing it. Are you or are you not a Longhorn fan posing as an Aggie on this board?

Look at the last 35 years.

We were an all male military college on the brink of going the way of citadel or Norwich had President Rudder not changed our University's course. I don't give a **** about what our record was against the horns before microwaves were invented. It's been competitive almost 25-25 the last 30 years I think.

Literally none of those words you listed correlate with discrediting. You're making up definitions of words in a attempt to create a false narrative that makes you feel better. I am not a longhorn and clearly wouldn't be here if I was. The idea that anyone you disagree with is a long horn is by definition irrational and obsessive if Texas

Regardless. It's going to continue. And it's going to help things go full circle and return to how things have always been. Texas will win a SEC title in the next 10 years and we won't.

It's crazy to me because I and others can see it coming but there are many who don't.

Those who made the Texas to the SEC possible behind the scenes are the problem and because of them, the 100 year decision became an Aggie joke.

LSU is a bigger rivalry when they move to Texas, we start another bonfire, new yells and fight song and we have a hundred year rivalry with them. So basically never. Can't people just be happy we have two great rivalry games instead of pretending we don't care about horn. It's pathetic. Just like horn would loudly proclaim OU was their real rivalry when we were beating their asses in the 80's.
TRD-Ferguson

Agree that LSU isn't a real rival and never will be. Still, Midnight Yell at Pat O'Brien's in NOLA followed by game day in Baton Rouge were fun times.

Calling a position emotional is a psychological technique to deflect from the objective facts and reframe the argument as an emotional one. It is more frequently used against women. Thank you for proving my point by using it again in your latest post.

Here's the best reason to play Texas.

Our Fight Song. We're probably the only school who sings about how much we hate another school....Texas.

A few years ago, a neighbor, not familiar with A&M says to me " what's all this about So Long to the Orange and the White? What do you guys have against Tennessee? .....you don't even play 'em!

says me " oh, it's not about Tennessee...it refers to the Texas Longhorns"

My neighbor..." But you don't play them either!"

Gotta admit....he had a good point.

We are not the only school that does that. SMH

Yes, those swimming trophies are much less prestigious than our golf and track trophies.

Back in the day it seemed that sip/A&M was the biggest game in the state of Texas. Not sure how much exposure it got nationally, but it was a bigger deal in state than boomer/sip was from my viewpoint.

It was a fun game to look forward to.

I'm probably just rambling and not sticking to the point of the thread entirely.

I agree with this. I grew up a sip fan in a family of sips and I don't remember anything about the OU game but the A&M game was always huge. The fact that in the Houston area you didn't know any Sooners but there were lots of Aggies and Horns meant there was a lot of smack talk in school. It made the outcome of that game seem more important.

Most Aggies tend to have more neighbors, coworkers or high school classmates that went to UT rather than ones who went to LSU. There shouldn't be any dispute about who the biggest rival is.

Texas A&M - LSU is a fabricated rivarly that A&M has wanted to become this big time rival game and it has not.
You are correct.

But, and I realize this is over 25 years ago, it sure felt like a rivalry up through '95 after 5 straight wins and they got all salty and didn't want to play us anymore.

It's unfortunate that we just haven't been very good.

Imagine if we had more wild games with them and won more than we lost?

Not saying it would even be considered a rivalry, but it would have the makings of one if there was constant back and forth, upsets, and just entertaining games.

I think that what you really meant is that A&M has won less than half as many games as tu has won in the series.

However, since I became an Aggie (fall '81), the good guys have 15 wins vs 16 losses - so pretty even.

No, AnM has also lost more than half the games played in the entire series. Total 116 games played and only 37 wins. In fact this simply isn't even technically a rivalry with how dominate they've been.

My god you are stupid.
A&M could've won 56 games in the series and it would technically still be less than half
But if that were the case, it would be an incredible rivalry by any standards.
