Old guy here. WTF are arm sleeves? legit question. I don't know what those are?

Right, like . . . where else would a sleeve go?

Jimbo's own self-interests would have best been served by winning the game at any cost.

Moose chose his own interests over the good of the team.

Zero percent chance that's all it was.

I am a high school teacher, and I had a student tell the principal that I sent him to the office because he asked to go to the restroom. Reality: I sent him to the office because of the f-bomb laced tantrum he threw after I told him he needed to wait a few more minutes until the lesson was over.

He should have kow-towed to a 19 year old child? The national champion head coach?

Did you play football? Have you coached it?
Yes, both. But I don't think my experience at a rural high school level 30 years ago has much to do with the situation. But go ahead and tell us about that pigskin uncle Rico.

This a billion-dollar business, not Carthage high school football.

And the fact that you still think of him as a "national championship coach" shows that you're living in the past in all aspects. He has recruited and developed the worst team in living Aggie history.

And how do you think he won that national championship anyway? By espousing old school Texas high school football values or by looking the other way while stars stole crab legs and groped Uber drivers?

There are people on this message board that have some experience above the high school level.
Well if you're going to flex, then flex properly. What are your bona fides and why is it that your opinion is more valuable?

If you are secretly Devonta Freeman and can give us some insight into Jimbo & how he runs a program then Im all ears.

I'm not going to flex. You drew a stupid assumption. I'm telling you your assumption is wrong.

I was the assistant head equipment manager of the Mississippi Mud Hens of the semi pro league. There's my bonafide. You're welcome.

OK, but if you're going to question my opinion based on the fact that you think I didn't play or coach football and then I tell you approximately where and when I did both (and admit that I think that gives me zero additional insight)…

I respect your opinion I'm certainly wrong half the time, but don't cut my opinion down based on your special expertise and then not tell me what your expertise is. If you know something we don't, then I'd like to hear it.

I didn't mention high school football, you did. I never coached or worked in high school football, although I did play, like the rest of the state of Texas.

I grew up in locker rooms at the highest level of football. I have seen some of the most dysfunctional locker rooms ever (like they made a The Football Life episode about it) and some that are as functional as they can come.

If you think Jimbo can suddenly kow-tow to kids and switch to being a player's coach, he will lose every ounce of respect of everyone in and or around the program.

Fair enough and I'm sure that experience gave you an additional level of insight that a lot of people don't have…

But respectfully, I still think you're dead-ass wrong. I think Jimbo has been as you say "kow-towing" to kids his whole career and I think the disciplinarian act is the desperate play. I think you've got it backwards.

As another poster said, pick your battles, and don't punish the whole team and fans by not playing a top WR when our offense is already struggling. If Moose mouthed off, call him on it and handle it this week in practice requirements. Heck, he punished Weigman by making it easier on the Auburn secondary, so Weig had to hold the ball longer. Completely mishandled. Just Wow! And I am tired of starting over with coaches. So, Fisher and A&M need to work out the problems to the benefit of the program.

Edited to add that it didn't help Evan Stewart either. Can we please get our stuff together for these last two games?

Moose got his feelings hurt, was already headed to the portal after the season, and this is him trolling the entire program as a big F you on the way out. I don't care what his hashtags say. There IS more to this, but once again, social media is being used as a weapon.

And some of you are falling for it.
there's probably a lot of truth in that, but there's no way he sits them if we are playing for something meaningful, and that's inconsistent.

Jimbo is running the old-school disciplinarian play out of desperation after having already lost the locker room…but at his peak he was letting ole crabs legs play.

And some of you are falling for that.
Jimbo's falling on his own sword.

Pants have leg sleeves. Unless they are shorts. The entire team wore leg sleeves and Jimbo didn't say **** about that. A little consistency would be nice!

This about not knowing your team/players. You're struggling to put together a lineup and it's not time to get into a Dick measuring contest….especially given the state of college football today (NIL, portal, etc). Especially since he's been wearing them this season.

Oh, and since this has turned into a credentials thread….son of a head coach (15 years), college FB player (DB) and Aggie grad.

It's possible that Moose was dropping kicks, punts, or passes in pregame warmups. If that was happening and Fisher told him to take off the armbands, Moose should have taken off the armbands.

If Moose refused, he should not have played. PERIOD. Armbands do not prevent injuries other than possibly a few scraps or grass burns. Dumb thing to take a stand on. The tweet is even more of an issue. I bet dad is disappointed in his son's actions.

48 hour rule. The fuse is burning close to the bomb. Moose's teammates are silent, and he obviously felt emboldened (encouraged?) to be the catalyst for roasting the program on the national stage. The coming week may be worthy of a lasting, pejorative nickname.

One of the tweet comments said that the rule was for the skill players because Jimbo believes the sleeves become slick in cold weather and make one more fumble-prone...

Which begs the question - do actual analytics exist as to the friction of sleeves at various temperatures?

At any rate, if this is true, I could see where Moose was told to remove them, and either refused or talked back, and was subsequently benched.

We ask our hs kids that carry the ball to avoid full arm sleeves. We noticed ball control issues esp when it was cold and dry. Similarly we have kids remove some kinds of gloves in certain weather conditions. Kids are understanding and don't want to have ball control issues.

I'll answer the legit question.

Arm sleeves are the idea of wearing one or two detached long sleeves or a long sleave shirt under your short sleeve jersey to be trendy. They serve no purpose for protection or play.

The idea used to be only track and field, and has migrated to other sports. It started among the track athletes as a honor bestowed to the captain(s) of the team to wear one arm or leg sleeve, but it now done by anybody in any sport who thinks they want to look cool.

Then let him wear the sleeves, but he has to wear a cowboy collar too. That way he can look extra cool.
