2023 Austin Westlake OL TJ Shanahan commits to Texas A&M
Texas A&M has landed a verbal commitment today from one of the top overall prospects in Texas as Austin Westlake OL TJ Shanahan has called for Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies. He made his announcement via social media.
This is a crucial recruitment pickup for the Maroon & White for two reasons.
Number one, the kid is a fantastic player. At 6-foot-4, 310 pounds, Shanahan is exceptionally advanced as a technician but also plays with an unrelenting motor and aggression. He loves putting defenders into the dirt. In addition, his size and skill combination means he could play just about anywhere across the offensive front.

The second reason is that it’s a significant recruiting win for Jimbo Fisher and Steve Addazio. Shanahan had his pick of schools. Shanahan ultimately chose the Aggies over LSU, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
TJ and his family moved to Texas from Orlando, Florida, before his junior season. He’s the 11th commit of the 2023 class and joins Smithson Valley’s Colton Thomasson, Ramsey (NJ) Don Bosco Prep’s Chase Bisontis and Philadelphia (PA) Northeast’s Naquil Betrand as future Maroon Goons.
