A member may be suspended at any time by a vote of at least two-thirds of the members, either indefinitely or for a stated period, for any conduct deemed to be incompatible with membership. Would Vandy get booted? Doubt it. They're a built in cupcake to absorb L's. Not to mention academic prowess, supposedly protection from FOIA, etc.

In theory a mega conference of 20-30, which would no longer be the sec could, but thatd be suicide and kill off all casual fans and reduce the mega schools money too as most would just watch nfl, not schools they dgaf about.
The playoff will go to 16, and the big 12/pac marriage and acc will all get auto bids along with a group of 5, so that everyone is halfway interested in dreaming of their school playing. The big schools need these casual fans, not to alienate them. There are way too many other entertainment options to just abandon 100 of 130 schools.

We win a woman's basketball title. It's as relevant as Vanderbilt baseball title.
Vandy isn't getting kicked out. But when the big football schools from across the country all leave in the next decade, vandy will be left behind and likely without complaint from them.

I think focusing in a conference on how awful other conference mate "are" shows insecurity with who you are. That's why Texas's constant pursuit of demeaning and belittling other schools makes them look small.
We shouldn't copy it. We should value each conference member for what they actually contribute including a vote to invite us to their shindig.

Vanderbilt isn't getting booted because of AAU membership. A&M needs to start investing in academics like we do in sports. We are on the verge of getting kicked out - bottom of the list based on the latest numbers. Iowa State voluntarily left the AAU this year before being asked to leave.

The current deal does not include value for Texas and OU. It was the deal we already negotiated with them.

The fact that some Aggies think this should happen is sad. A non-trivial portion of our fanbase has become incredibly arrogant.

Basketball and Baseball aren't the answer.
AAU status isn't the answer.
Private school protection isn't the answer.
They're taking a slice of the pie everybody is maximizing right now, as their legal contracts allow.
But- tell us why Vandy is being kept.
You know all teams to leave the SEC previously left of their own volition, right? That would be University of the South (Sewanee) in 1940, Georgia Tech in 1964, and Tulane in 1966. The SEC has existed continuously since 13 members of the then 20-member institution Southern Conference located south and west of Appalachian mountains left to form the Southeastern Conference in 1932.
