No idea, that was my thought as well. Probably the timing - hard to find a quality coach in the middle of spring practices.
Rationale and truth have no place on this board...take it elsewhere!greg.w.h said:
I have no clue regarding Henson. But I do have an opinion about Jimbo. He will know what to do.

Bruce Matthews
This.
His 14 consecutive Pro Bowls (9 at guard, 5 at center) tied Hall of Famer Merlin Olsen for the most ever. Matthews was also named first-team All-Pro nine times (1988-1993, 1998-2000) and All-AFC 12 seasons (1988-1993, 1995-2000). He was selected as a guard on the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 1990s.
None of that means he is a good OL coach. He has never recruited or developed a college OL. Don't think he is even a remote possibility.
When he hires a real offensive coordinator to call plays get back to me.ccatag said:
Now we have both a brand new Defensive Coordinator and a brand new Offensive Line coach to look forward to. I am sure Jimbo is working through a wealth of resumes and applications. He's working the phones. That man can talk!
This is a great time for him to do some deep diving into the current state of coaching personnel. He will get the Aggies the very best, creme of the crop.
Plus, he needs to replace that recruiter that left. Jimbo will be talking, asking questions, and listening. Coaches, recruiters and staff.
Jimbo is on a mission. He ain't done yet!

Saban loses coordinators every year and they seem to be fine.
And the guy has HC aspirations so 4 years in SoCal on his way to somewhere else is part of the job description. Almost Every coach moving up the ladder takes a job that is a step up with a couple drawbacks goes with the territoryWDVB15 said:He got an OC job, he got a big enough raise to cover cost of living.MagnumLoad said:No cure for stupid. Well, tell you what, if Henson's move was because more of coins, he is going to give it up in state income taxes, property taxes and cost of living increases. The avg price of a house in Cali is $890,000. If he buys an avg size home close to the USC campus in Marina DelRay, he's paying $1.2 million.

Quote:Josh Henson will be receiving a massive payday from USC, and i’m told he’s expecting a better role than OL coach.

Well, he missed on a couple of 5 star OL from in state this year.Agsuffering@bulaw said:
Most OL coaches are far better teachers than recruiters. Henson was uncommonly good recruiting. I wondered sometimes about his teaching ability. The OL started slowly every year he was here.
Truth will eventually come out.
