During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Richard Zane joined to take us Around Aggieland and provided updates from the gridiron and beyond as it was a busy weekend for Texas A&M Athletics.


Football (8-4, 4-4 in SEC)
On Saturday night, Texas A&M suffered a crushing loss as LSU scored a game-winning touchdown with 20 seconds left to beat the Aggies, 27-24.

  • Senior DE Micheal Clemons posted a career-high 3.5 sacks.

  • Junior WR Jalen Preston caught three passes for 57 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Sophomore RB Devon Achane led the Aggies in both rushing and receiving with 49 yards on the ground and 72 yards through the air.

With the loss, the Aggies have fallen in both the AP and Coaches polls.

  • AP: No. 24 (No. 14 last week)
  • Coaches: No. 23 (No. 14 last week)
  • New College Football Playoff Rankings will be released on Tuesday night.

Texas A&M now awaits its bowl destination, which will likely be announced on Sunday.

Women's Basketball (7-0, 0-0 in SEC)
Gary Blair and the Aggies went a perfect 3-0 in St. Thomas to win the 2021 Paradise Jam championship.

  • Thursday: Texas A&M 57, Pittsburgh 46
    • Jordan Nixon and Destiny Pitts led the way with 12 points, each.
  • Friday: Texas A&M 58, South Dakota 44
    • Kayla Wells poured in 20 points, going 8-for-11 from the field.
    • Nixon had 13 points.
  • Saturday: Texas A&M 77, Northwestern 68
    • Nixon led all scorers with 25 points. She was 6-for-6 from behind the arc.
    • Pitts and Wells had 15 points each, while Sahara Jones scored 10.
  • Jordan Nixon was named the MVP of the Reef Tournament at the Paradise Jam. Kayla Well was named to the Paradise Jam All-Tournament Team.

Texas A&M hosts Little Rock in a Wednesday matinee at Reed Arena.

  • Tip-off is set for 11:00 a.m. CT and will be streamed on SEC Network+.

Blair and select players will address the media on Monday with a press conference scheduled for 1:15 p.m. CT.

Men's Basketball (6-1, 0-0 in SEC)
Following a 2-1 week in Las Vegas, Buzz Williams and the Aggies return to Reed Arena on Tuesday night as A&M hosts New Orleans.

  • Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed on SEC Network+

Williams and select players will address the media on Monday with a press conference scheduled for 12:30 p.m. CT.

  • The Buzz Williams Radio Show returns on Monday night, live from Rudy's in College Station at 7:00 p.m. CT.

Volleyball (14-14, 7-11 in SEC)
Texas A&M concluded the 2021 season with a weekend sweep of the Missouri Tigers at Reed Arena.

  • Friday: Texas A&M 3, Missouri 1
    • Mallory Talbert had a match-high 17 kills
    • Camille Conner dished out 51 assists, and Camryn Ennis had 25 digs.
    • The win snapped the Aggies’ five-match losing streak.
  • Saturday: Texas A&M 3, Missouri 0
    • Talbert had a team-high 12 kills. Conner had 34 assists, and Allison Fields had 27 digs.
    • Following the win, the Aggies honored seniors London Austin-Roark, Macy Carrabine, Camille Conner, Camryn Ennis, Allison Fields, Sabrina Sustala, Mallory Talbert and Taylor Voss for their contributions to the program.

Swimming & Diving
Both Texas A&M's men’s and women's teams will be in action this weekend, but both will be competing away from Aggieland.

  • Men: Friday at Incarnate Word - Time TBA at the Ann Barshop Natatorium
  • Women: Saturday at Rice - 12:00 p.m. CT at the Rice Aquatics Center Natatorium

Equestrian (6-1, 3-0 in SEC)
Currently riding a five-meet winning streak, the Aggies are up to No. 2 in the latest NCEA poll.

  • No. 2 Texas A&M begins its spring slate on Saturday, Jan. 29 vs. Baylor at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.

Track & Field
Pat Henry and the Aggies officially announced their 2022 signing class, receiving National Letters of Intent from 12 student-athletes.
