It's a darn shame the season is basically over this early. This has not been a fun week knowing it's another year with no championship.

1. Seeing our QB getting thrown around like a rag doll by a hapless Colorado Defense, only to have him knocked out of the majority of the season to be replaced by a disappointing backup.
2. Witnessing the SEC backstab us and let the sips into the conference.
3. Wondering why our 4/5 star players are getting smoked by Arky 3 stars.
4. Watching Ole Miss roll up points like crazy while our offense can barely score a TD per game.
5. Waiting for BAMA to go in dry at night at Kyle (again).
And finally, watching as we graduate a ton of NFL talent (Spiller, Wydermyer, Leal, etc.) and have to fend off the sips and OU for players in Texas who just want to play in the SEC.
P. S. All while we have upped the salary of our coach to $9M a year, instead of giving that money to our Defensive Coordinator (who deserves it more).
Before the season, I knew we weren't going to beat Alabama and win the SEC West. I had believed the floor was 9-3 and ceiling was 11-1 and predicted a 10-2 season with losses to Alabama and LSU. I was disappointed but not surprised that we lost to Arkansas 20-10. I have adjusted my expectations. Now, I believe our floor is 7-5 (3-5 in SEC games) and ceiling is 9-3 (5-3 in SEC games). I predict we will finish 8-4 (4-4 in SEC games). I can see 3 more losses to Alabama, Ole Miss, and LSU. I just hope we win home SEC games against Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Auburn and one road SEC game at Missouri. Hopefully, we will finally beat Auburn at Kyle Field after losing home games to Auburn in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019.Long range Ag said:
Chocolate labs was high on kool aid (maroon) and expected 15-0 and a natty. Before a down was played, having attended practice and having seen our oline horrific technique and footwork, I told him we were going to go 8-5 this season w losses at Bama, LSU, Auburn, Arky, and old miss. He howled w laughterNow that I have seen that our D will not wrap up and tackle in the first half of each game I have revised projection to 7-6.
Nothing to see here folks, TiVo the game, spend your Saturdays shooting, fishing, exercising, etc. enjoy!

No season will EVER be as frustrating as 2011. Lost 6 games, but led 5 of those 6 by double digits in the 2nd half if I'm not mistaken. Capped it off with a loss at home to tu after a B.S. personal foul penalty that extended their drive. Not sure how much time I lost off the end of my life that season, but it was a lot.

By the 3rd game it was so bad how you KNEW it was going to be another blown victory
Did Sumlin coach for >1000 years or did it just seem like it?SilverTongueDevil said:
Sumlin's teams from 2014-3016 were not highly ranked but did get to top 5 after fast starts against bad teams. Those teams had a lot of false hope and were extremely soft and had no resiliency after the first loss. 2016 could have been special if not for the Trevor Knight injury.

And I'm not the only one. So yeah, I'd say this season has been a bit of a letdown
I agree. In 2013, I had expected a 10-2 regular season finish with losses to Alabama and LSU and 2nd in the SEC West. Instead, our porous defense prevented us from finishing better than 8-4 and 4th in the SEC West behind Auburn, Alabama and LSU. We allowed 31+ points 8 times and went 5-3 in those games. Even with an average defense, we could have walked into Tiger Stadium 9-1. We led Alabama 14-0 before Alabama scored 35 unanswered points to take a 35-14 lead with 12:41 left in the 3rd quarter. By contrast, we led Auburn 34-24 with 14:17 left, but Auburn outscored us 21-7 to defeat us 45-41. I can understand losing to Alabama but not to Auburn.Nino Brown said:
2013 was pretty damn frustrating to me. Even half of a defense with a heartbeat and we walk into Tiger stadium undefeated ranked 1 in the country.
what happened in 2016...perhaps similar to 2021...A&M got caught without an adequate backup QB.Iraq2xVeteran said:
No, 2016 was the most frustrating season since joining the SEC. After we defeated then No. 9 5-0 Tennessee 45-38 in double overtime to improve to 6-0 (4-0 in SEC games), I had expected us to finish 10-2 with losses to Alabama and LSU, 2nd in the SEC West, and play in the Sugar Bowl. Instead, we incurred additional losses to both Mississippi Schools to finish 8-4 in the regular season and 4th in the SEC West. Subsequently, we lost to Kansas State 33-28 in the Texas Bowl to finish 8-5 after a 6-0 start.
Outside of Alabama, the SEC was so weak in 2016 that 8-4 (5-3 in SEC games) Auburn got invited to the 2017 Sugar Bowl. Both Mississippi State and Ole Miss finished 5-7 in the regular season. We were 7-1 and ranked No. 4 when we lost at then 3-5 Mississippi State 35-28 on 11/5/16. The following week, we blew a 21-6 4th quarter lead to lose to then 4-5 Ole Miss 29-28 at Kyle Field. Ole Miss followed that win with blowout losses to Vanderbilt and Mississippi State by a combined score of 93-37. Despite a 5-7 record, Mississippi State qualified for a bowl game due to their high APR score. It was confounding how we beat Auburn and Tennessee but lost to inferior Mississippi schools in back to back weeks.
Yes that is true. If Trevor Knight had not gotten injured, we might have have beaten both Missipppi teams, even with a poor defense. Our defense had started struggling from the Tennessee game. We allowed 684 total yards (402 passing and rushing) and 38 points. Despite 7 takeaways, including 6 in regulation, we needed two overtimes to beat Tennessee because of 3 giveaways and our porous defense. Against Mississippi State, we allowed 574 total yards (209 passing and 365 rushing) and 35 points. If not for a 93-yard punt return by Christian Kirk and missed scoring opportunities by Missipppi State, the loss would have been much worse than 35-28. Nick Fitzgerald threw two interceptions in the red zone and kicker Weston Graves missed a 32-yard field goal. Otherwise, Mississippi State probably would have scored another touchdown and two more field goals for 48 points.W said:what happened in 2016...perhaps similar to 2021...A&M got caught without an adequate backup QB.Iraq2xVeteran said:

Trevor got hurt in the 1st half vs. State and missed the Ole Miss game. The backup was one of those QB's...who was just good enough to keep the game close
