when you say river floats, do you mean rafting?
Depending on #'s, I'm told by my friends who has a place downtown that more than 4 from the airport is cheaper via Uber vs the train.Counterpoint said:
How's the Uber/Lyft situation there?
Also, are there any easy to get to from downtown (possibly by Uber/Lyft) climbing places? Trying to decide if I should bring my gear and if I should rent a car.

Thanks for posting.
Two questions for downtown:
Best mexican food?
Best brewery?
Denver does have some great BBQ and it's only getting better.JimbosHatBarelyFits said:Bonzer103 said:Ebby Calvin said:
Well the Mexican food may be better here than in Minnesota, but that's not saying too much! Mexican food in Denver is poor to average! But I also grew up in San Antonio so I know what good mexican food taste like!
That sucks. I grew up in South Texas, and also lived in San Antonio for 3 years after high school. Prior to Minnesota I lived in Oregon for 6 years, so has been nothing but torture without tex-mex (and bbq). Was hoping thinga may be different there. Thanks for the input.
I feel your pain. Grew up in Victoria then lived in San Antonio for 8 years after graduating. Now I live in Tennessee. I miss Mexican food (Tex Mex) and Texas bbq so much. And breakfast tacos
prepare to be disappointed. I lived in Denver for a few years and the mexican food absolutely sucked. And I'm not one of those "only tex-mex is good" type of weirdos either. Unless it has improved greatly in the last few years, Denver Mexican food consists of effing black olives all over bland crap. Find a carniceria that doesn't speak english and you can get some half decent tacos and some gas station in Boulder with OK breakfast burritos but that's about it. I love new mexican food as well but it seems like they forget how to make that chili as soon you cross Raton pass.Quote:
I don't live in Texas, live in Minnesota where it's horrible. Figured it has to be better than here and worth the try.
Plenty of Uber and Lyft options, and prices are hit and miss. Getting to a spot to climb would be easy, getting back will be the hard part. I'd recommend a car rental, and if you can't find one, rent a U-Haul truck for $10 + mileage.Counterpoint said:

What kind of climbing do you want to do? Easiest from downtown via uber/lyft would maybe be north table mountain in Golden. Although certainly not as classic as Eldo. You may see if you can find a partner with gear here or on Mountain Project and just bring shoes/harnessCounterpoint said:

There's certainly that, but all the rivers in town are easy, and the flow has slowed down greatly. Places like S. Platt, Golden, and Boulder are river floats like the Comal in Texas. You can either rent a tube, or buy one from a local store and do your own floats.gigemJTH12 said:

If it's not your thing, then none of this statement is true.Gidnik said:
boulder is a pretty great town. lots of good weed if thats your thing.
Totally agree. Just plan ahead when you need to catch your flight home. From point A outside the city to the airport, you'll be waiting here and there for the train. That adds up to about 1hr 45min for me to go from the Arvada station to the airport. Comparing to Uber now, and it's a 9min wait, 40min drive, and $42.Bonzer103 said:
So I think someone already mentioned it, but if you aren't renting a car best way to get to downtown (other than uber) is the A Train from the airport and takes you to Union Station downtown (few blocks over from Coors Field, and thankfully two blocks from my hotel). Cost is $10.50, takes 37 mins (23 miles), and leaves every 15 mins before 6:00 pm, and every 30 mins after 6:00 pm. Seems like the way to go.

Good thing Yell Practice was moved. City just announced they would be shutting down Civic Center Park soon because of how many homeless people stay there.

He also uses Avis downtown if needing a car. We'll do that to get to a day hike.
Is there a list of Aggie-owned restaurants? I visited an Aggfie Club page but wasn't sure of the accuracy of the info.
Red Rocks has Jimmy Buffet Thurs nite.
Are you interested in climbing Torrey's Peak via Kelso Ridge Route early on Sunday? A Class 3 route, but no ropes needed.Counterpoint said:
