ou and tu should be treated as any other team in the SEC, the so called Red River Rivalry should just be a regular scheduled game. They will have no more influence than any other program. That goes for A&M vs tu; it should not replace LSU as Thanksgiving game. They are just another SEC member and will be treated accordingly. My big question is how will the SEC align the teams???

I agree with both of you. Texas A&M vs Texas will be held on Thanksgiving. Arkansas vs LSU AKA The Battle for the Golden Boot will resume being played on Black Friday.

I honestly hope A&M has the balls to keep the lsu game as our rivals on that weekend. In my option it only makes us look week wanting to get back into the same mentality as only thinking about that Thanksgiving game against liberal u. Need to make it just a normal game in October and act like we do not care about them.

If not we fall back into the same little brother mentality which we are 10 years removed from now! Just my opinion.

It will happen.

We had already moved away from LSU on Thanksgiving. We are going to play Texas annually it may as well be on thanksgiving. Time to put your big boy pants on people.

Let's focus on making them worried about playing us and not Bama.

9 game conference schedule with no permanent cross over games sounds ok to me. Sips at the end.

Let me get with Sankey & make sure he understands the rules.

It's already guaranteed that we will get the home and home Thanksgiving day game series back again with the tsips.

If it's pods and we are in LSU pod, looks like we would play every two years. But money would say we play every year.

TU has publicly stated many times that OU is their true rivalry opponent so please AD Bjork do not get outmaneuvered in the scheduling discussions because that is the only chess remaining to be played.

We need to be in a pod w/Lsu, Miss, and Miss St to have continued access to deep south recruiting. We will always have access to TX so let TU, OU, Arky and Mizzu squabble over that collectively.

Any pod that includes Ags, TU and OU together will bake in a predetermined bias in SOS across the expanded league and jeopardize those 3 schools in the 12-team playoff format.

They already have Alabama on their schedule for 2022 and 2023. I expect Alabama will beat them, but this isn't anymore of a "wake up call" for them than joining the SEC was for us. I am sure they are fully aware that the schedule will be tougher with 9 SEC games per year. They will go from maybe two really tough opponents per year to having 4 to 6.

A rivalry does NOT have to be a big brother/little brother scenario. They can be our biggest rival (which they really are anyway) and us not be a little brother. LSU is NOT nearly the same level of rivalry as Texas. It probably never would have been. Why not restore the big Thanksgiving rivalry game? We need to start portraying an attitude of being happy to renew the rivalry and beat them. So far, we have portrayed an attitude of whining, which is what will give us a "little brother" perception.

And we can still build a rivalry with LSU. A team can have more than one big rival.

The SEC and ESPN will not let LSU and A&M play on that weekend.

The ONLY upside to this deal is that Thanksgiving is restored to the awesome football holiday the Pilgrims intended it to be.

The tu vs OU game is always played in October at the State Fair of Texas and I doubt that will ever get changed.

My guess is that it will be Texas vs Texas A&M on Thanksgiving since that is a rivalry game with tons of emotion and hate. Just take a look at TexAgs the past few days for proof.

I do wonder if Texas and OU will try to get a stipulation that they still play in early October to keep it at the Cotton Bowl during the state fair.

If you don't think our athletic department isn't slobbering at the idea of playing texas Thanksgiving week again, you are delusional. Same goes for texas.

Look...it sounds like this thing is pretty much a done deal. While I don't trust the sips nor would have I wanted them in our conference...the fact remains that the rivalry on the field was a lot of fun as a fan and we should embrace that aspect. Put our game with tu back on Thanksgiving and let's get after it!

absolutely they will try. Again, it is tu asserting dominance over the conference. If, as they claim, OU is their real rival - then they play on rivalry weekend. Period.

its quite simple. SEC has rivalry weekend. You play your rival on that weekend. If there is any exception for tu - then we are already beginning to see tu weaseling their way to get things that other teams do not.
