The fact that Sankey seems so willing to throw this time honored agreement to the wind so that he can redefine college football pisses me off.

So after the Brent Z article all of these beat writers have some "inside sources" that these conversations have been taking place for 6+ months and nobody mentioned anything till the Houston Chronicle broke the news this week? Not buying it at all !

Story breaks, reporters start questioning their sources and with the news out sources more willing to talk about what they know. Not really surprising, since the reporters did not know to ask the question before.

Yep, Sankey is a slim ball. Admittance by no admittance. Finebaum interview with him yesterday. Time to go after Sankey...

Yeah it was behind our backs but no way it went on that long. A couple of months at most.

But I think this was sankey, whorns, ou, and espn, and lots of sec schools were left out.

If ESPN is involved then A&M would have a slam dunk case for tortuous interference and would own ESPN, and Disney

There's no better drama for some sports media types than when tu is sucking and trying to make itself seem relevant.

Looch said the ACC reached out to both tu and ou first about joining them but tu and ou then decided to reach out to the SEC instead.

Well espn owns both acc and sec, so maybe enough sec schools put up a stink and let the whorns and methheads go there. Plus, they can take kansas and wvu to make it an even number and send nd back to full time indy status.

I doubt we'd have the stones to do that but we might be smart enough to let baylor and the big12 crew do it again to slow it down.

Let's hope there's some FOIA emails out there on accident.

And get ****ed on media rights unfortunately. The mouse is gonna win out in the end by getting the rest of the teams to play ball

A&M isn't going to do anything that crazy. They're going to announce that they are very much opposed and other schools who for decades enjoyed the handshake agreement (UF, USCe, UGA) will join in accepting tu/OU because it further ensures they stay protected and we'll just have to deal with it.

Also - I wouldn't be surprised if some of the conversations happened with the help of Scott Woodward. They just finished the home&home last year with tu...he of all people would know A&M needed to be shut out of the discussions. They could have easily began talks last year with the sips through the connection of that series and back-channeled to the SEC offices.

And if the pods that were already being floated were correct, it gets LSU away from Bama every year.

If Sankey was in negotiations with UT and OU for six months and left us in the dark, he should be fired. If this is true, the SEC culture has been revealed to be a lie.

The tu pundits I listened to discussing this said tu folks were told to "sit" on this. They blamed friendly A&M media for leaking it to try to ruin their deal. They know they have the 11 votes.

Agree that part is bull***** I think the moment the cat was out of the bag all the beat writers went asking and all the sudden their sources were more ok with speaking on the record....the end part though I suspect is right...they were willing to then speak on the record because they have 11 votes.

LOL. The SEC has protected and promoted Alabama over all schools for the last 15 years during Saban's dominance. They always get the most favorable schedule breakout. The SEC culture is better than that of a conference that was started/created with Texas at the center, so it won't ever be as bad w/ the sips as it was in the Big12 or SWC...but let's not act like this has been some equal share equal voice conference we've joined the last 10 years.

From ESPN:

An SEC source told Heather Dinich that it's inaccurate that A&M was left out of the conversation.

I wouldn't be surprise if this is just TU or the Austin newspaper trying to troll A&M that they had no idea.

You'd have to think this was the case. You want to talk about permanently poisoning the well if you are the SEC. Not telling all your members about an expansion move is LHN level insidiousness

They can't do sh*t to us so long as we're in the SEC, besides this move clearly indicates that money is everything to the other SEC school and ESPN so we should act accordingly. They burned the high road by backstabbing us. Take the gloves off and make it hurt. Worst they can do is bury us in a 11 am game or lobby the committee to exclude us from the playoff which they do anyway. *****ESPN, the SEC schools, and the SEC offices, we thought we were safe but we're only correct in thinking that we're the only ones with our own self interest in mind. SEC made that extremely clear.

If this had real legs I would assume we would already be hearing from TX and OK legislatures trying to protect Baylor, Tech, and OK State...

I'll take the above statement back after reading UT and OU did not attend a Big 12 leage conferance call yesterday... per ESPN

State Rep. Leach who is a Baylor Law grad said he would file legislation to force a state lawmaker approval for a UT move. For it to get any traction, Gov. Abbot would have to add it as an agenda item to a special session since the Texas legislature is out for 2 years.
