Jim Turner given walking papers, could he walk or crawl back to his old job? Frank Pollack hired to take his place.

Nah...he left on his own so he didn't want to be here. Plus, he has been involved in some sort of controversy every stop he's been.

I'm not saying we should hire him but he's one of the best OL coaches in the country and has worked hard for us in the past. And his players loved him. So, worth a look...but yes, we do have an OL coach.

In general, doing the opposite of what TexAgs wants is a good route to building a winning program.

Turner's lazy recruiting set this OL back for several years. That's a hard pass for me.

Can't believe anyone is considering bringing Turner in as OL coach and replacing Henson

Harrrrddddd paaaaassssss

The only role Turner could fill here is as an alalyst

No way, no how. One of the things I admire about A&M is the commitment to integrity. Turner doesn't share that with our university. Who publicly puts kids on blast?

That's some Aaron Moorhead / Tom Herman type of stuff.

Turner was an average OL coach that had the benifit of Sherman picking the recruits. With no Sherman he didnt recruit the same.

No, we got Henson. When Jimbo hired him, this board said that he's not as good at developing as Turner but much better at recruiting than him.

Well, this season proved that Henson is great at developing also. On top of this, he recruited very well as expected.

Also, I heard that Turner had some character issues with his players in the NFL. I know this isn't 100% proven, but I'm also getting a strong feeling Jimbo willingly led him out of the program to hire Henson. It's just a feeling, but I'd rather stay away from Turner this time.

ridiculous

Jim Turner was a top 10 OLine coach in College and was a part in recruiting/ developing two of the best offensive lines in A&M history (2012/ 2020). to say otherwise is plain wrong.

Luckily, we have Championship level head coach who replaced Turner with an as good and hopefully better coach in Josh Henson.

end of story. no need to bag on a guy who did alot for A&M.

Sherman really was one heck of a recruiter. Too bad he's the complete inverse of Jimbo (Sleepy vs 4th Quarter Strength).

I admit I'm just guessing with this. But considering what has been said about Turner (tweet by Mayweather and his locker room issues in the NFL), I honestly am getting not-so-good vibes off of him. IF Henson leaves and we have no other OL options left, it would be fair to get Turner again. But as long as we don't get stuck in that situation, I hope that Jimbo finds other options.

Nope. Jimbo told him to hit the highway.

well he is Boston ******* and former Marine. like other notable disciplinarian coaches, he is not a great fit for NFL (Dolphins). and the Bengals are a terribly run program from top to bottom.

His results speak for themselves at A&M. all that matters.

So you are telling me that Jimbo retained the 1 of 2 coaches from sumlin's staff, just to fire him 1 year later. Very un Jimbo like.

FIFY in far hindsight it appears Sherman was the true developer for the 2010-2012 Maroon Goons. Turner didn't get in the way.

Sherman's playcalling late in games and lack of adjustments is what got him fired, not his player development. If Dickey ever leaves we should bring Sherman in as OC just to call the 1st halves, then give the clipboard to Jimbo going into the locker room and let Jimbo make the adjustments and play-calling in the second half. We'd be unstoppable!

partly right, mostly wrong. Sherman hired Turner and it was Turners Oline. Sherman played a part no doubt.

People forget that we had 2 score leads going into half in 10 out of 12 games in 2011(tied KSU at half and down 13-10 vs OU), heck we were up 35-17 vs Petrino's ranked Arkansas(which we still lost). Honestly if we could get Sherman to come be an analyst/OL developer that scripts the first half I really wouldn't be opposed to it. HC seems to be above him, but he knows development and play scripting for sure.

Jimbo seems the opposite(which is much better), it appears his adjustments and late game playcalling is where he shines. I actually feel less nervous if we're down a score going into the 4th(see Auburn and Orange Bowl). Time will tell if the first half issues we had thus far was Mond or Jimbo. I recall FSU fans saying that they didn't like his first half playcalling too. At the very least he appears to be a master of game attrition.
Agsuffering@bulaw
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's more than just adjustments. Jimbo calls plays for the first 3 with the 4th in mind. Jimbo shows things early to see how they are trained to react. He then plans several layers of options based on what they do. Then he has more options based on those options.

Very few coaches think in as many layers as jimbo.

Some of you people are delusional. Sherman is 66 years old, he lives in yankeeland, and TAMU was one of 13 stops he had in his career. Dude is taking it easy with all the millions he's made.

Y'all think he loved A&M so much to come back to a school that fired him to help Jimbo and the program?

Turner is way overrated by most. He is a terrible technique coach and not a great person. There is a reason Bengals gave him walking papers. He benefited from Sherman's recruiting and excellence of technique. Left to stand on his own, the results were not good
