but I'm also getting a strong feeling Jimbo willingly led him out of the program to hire Henson
ridiculous
Mike Sherman was a top 10 OLine coach in College and was a part in recruiting/ developing two of the best offensive lines in A&M history (2012/ 2020). to say otherwise is plain wrong.
Luckily, we have Championship level head coach who replaced Turner with an as good and hopefully better coach in Josh Henson.
end of story. no need to bag on a guy who did alot for A&M.
FIFY in far hindsight it appears Sherman was the true developer for the 2010-2012 Maroon Goons. Turner didn't get in the way.
Sherman's playcalling late in games and lack of adjustments is what got him fired, not his player development. If Dickey ever leaves we should bring Sherman in as OC just to call the 1st halves, then give the clipboard to Jimbo going into the locker room and let Jimbo make the adjustments and play-calling in the second half. We'd be unstoppable!
For a split second, I unironically thought this was an incredible idea.
People forget that we had 2 score leads going into half in 10 out of 12 games in 2011(tied KSU at half and down 13-10 vs OU), heck we were up 35-17 vs Petrino's ranked Arkansas(which we still lost). Honestly if we could get Sherman to come be an analyst/OL developer that scripts the first half I really wouldn't be opposed to it. HC seems to be above him, but he knows development and play scripting for sure.
Jimbo seems the opposite(which is much better), it appears his adjustments and late game playcalling is where he shines. I actually feel less nervous if we're down a score going into the 4th(see Auburn and Orange Bowl). Time will tell if the first half issues we had thus far was Mond or Jimbo. I recall FSU fans saying that they didn't like his first half playcalling too. At the very least he appears to be a master of game attrition.
