Eight Aggies named to Preseason Coaches All-SEC teams

The Southeastern Conference has released its preseason all-conference selections as voted on by the league’s coaches. Led by Bobby Brown on the Southeastern Conference’s first-team, eight Texas A&M players picked up an all-SEC nod.

Brown was the lone Aggie to be named to the first-team. Last season, Brown played in all 13 games for the Maroon & White making 11 starts. The junior defensive tackle made 21 total tackles, including eight solo stops and two tackles behind the line of scrimmage. During fall camp, Brown has been turning heads as the Aggies look to replace the production left behind by Justin Madubuike, a third-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

On the second-team, a trio of A&M offensive players and a young defensive standout made the list. Quarterback Kellen Mond is the second-team signal-caller as Florida’s Kyle Trask beat out Mond for the first-team honor. Sophomores Jalen Wydermyer and Isaiah Spiller made the second team at tight end and running back respectively after each played major roles as freshmen. Sophomore Demani Richardson is one of six defensive backs named to the second team following an impressive freshman campaign.

Three offensive linemen on the third-team round out the Aggies’ group of representatives as senior Carson Green and Dan Moore along with sophomore Kenyon Green made the list. Jimbo Fisher and offensive line coach Josh Henson will certainly hope the trio plays up to — and preferably above — their third-team status as A&M’s success will largely be tied to the improvement, cohesion and success in the trenches in 2020.

Texas A&M’s eight representatives total on all three lists ties Florida and LSU for third-best in the SEC. As expected, Alabama paced the league with 11 players selected, while Georgia registered 10.

Arik Gilbert is a true freshman and made the 3rd team....yowza.

2nd Team - SEC
RB: Rakeem Boyd, Arkansas
RB: Isaiah Spiller, Texas A&M

Sorry, but check these two against good teams. It's awful. And then Mond 2nd-Team is extremely generous given his incapacity to complete a forward pass, avoid a rush, and see the field last year.

Lacks of A&M guys on defense speaks to the 2018 class failing besides Bobby Brown. Not jimbo's fault since most were Sumlin's guys. Hoping that Linebackers step up to play. It's a shame Jimbo encourages guys to go pro despite more eligibility. Trayveon and Dodson leaving early was criminal to their futures and yet we didn't even offer up a yield sign. Both can barely make NFL teams now.

Some "student-athletes" do not like going to class. There are only so many hours that can be taken in GEST without advancing to a degree plan. Keep up, noob!

I won't be surprised to see a freshman or two seen as all conference by season's end.

Kinda surprised not to see Leal on at least the 3rd string... I know the SEC is never short on DL talent but he's going to turn heads this year

Kid was NATIONAL OUTSTANDING HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE in all sports, 1st ime ever for TE. Highest rated TE ever by 24/7. 6'5", 250lb, 4.4 with great WR moves and hands. Will move in and out, be a matchup nitemare. Also tuff enuf some thought using on O would be wasting a DE.

So far in practice nobody can figure out how to cover him, is a mismatch for anybody.

SEC coaches didn't get the memo that we have the best QB in the SEC
