Go hide under a rock in fear. Check your facts if they can be really verified. Schools should be opened in August. Find an elementary student who has died from this Covid-19. Everyone under 40 is 99% safe. It's only us old farts that might have issues if we have respiratory problems. College athletes might get sick for a few days and be done with it. Open this country up! Nobody has any idea what the kill rate of Covid is because nobody has any idea how many people have it. I think we are still under 2 million confirmed cases in the US. No way the actual number of people that had the virus is less than around 20-25 million. Can't compare it to flu because comparison at this point is almost meaningless. That doesn't mean this isn't a scary contagious virus. I sure don't want it.

Playing soccer in Germany but that is because they have virus relatively under control because German citizens can listen and use common sense. No soccer players as of the other day had virus.

Well here in the United States we are free. Interesting how 3,000 people dying on 9/11 scared Americans so bad we gave up endless amounts of freedom. And people hardly ever question this. But asking people to wear a mask after 120k of your countrymen die is a personal freedom too far.

Dumb point then because you will be dealing with both flu and COVID whether you play major sports or not. Major sports teams are in much better position to trace and return to work safely than the average person. And major sports players make up what percent of population??
Talking US and only pointing out major sports outside of America are being played but nothing in US, sans some golf I guess that didn't need to shut down in first place. No baseball, no basketball and no hockey.

You serious? I'd be willing to bet $10,000 that nobody dies from a team in the SEC. Most healthy young people are asymptomatic and will only experience minor symptoms if any at all.

In Texas we have 2403 deaths as of 6/29, and we had 2650 deaths from the flu this past flu season in about the same amount of time. Even in Texas the overwhelming majority of the 2400 deaths are from people over the age of 70. I guess you don't understand the size of summer baseball. The number of teams throughout this country. Tournaments everywhere from youth to college level being played. For 16u alone this past weekend there were 48 teams from all over the state playing four games each in Houston. And this is just baseball. Does not include basketball which started back up and soccer teams have been practicing with there seasons starting in a couple of months.
Major league baseball is fighting over money or they would already be playing. But now they are looking at starting in July.
Don't follow the NBA but appears they are trying to come back.
Hockey I doubt has the money or leadership to try.
Both college and pro football are working on it.

There are no "good" options with this. The disturbing thing is there is almost no discussion of the real economic damage and risks that are taken on with forcing people out of work. There are platitudes paid to it, almost exclusively on the conservative side, but scarcely little real discussion.
The social and economic consequences are massive. We're seeing just a taste of it with this Marxist uprising that's gripped the country and the amount of money being allocated to keep people out of work is essentially so large as to not be comprehensible in layman terms. Don't think for a second that the backdrop of the virus and the complacency of our citizens hasn't played a catalysts role in recent events.
Our politicians and doctors have done a comprehensive job of sowing fear of the virus. It is undoubtedly a severely virulent agent, so people are justified in respecting it. Real fear however should be reserved for the prospects of Great Depression or Marxist uprising. Most are too far removed from the Great Depression to fully appreciate it, but those who know their history know that it meant World War to cure the world of it. I've spent a good deal of time in the Soviet Union and can say unequivocally I want no part of any of the Marxist propaganda.
We need to be working and active in our daily lives. Do what we can, within reason, to limit the speed of transmission, but working age people need to be actively employed.
