A&M is big enough and rich enough that quite frankly, tu is kinda irrelevant outside of the recruiting competition that they are. And OPs story is spot on about how many of them are.

Probably.

They're smart enough to know that the SEC is the ticket to success as long as A&M is there. It has been a huge fear of mine from day 1 that they will some day weasel their way in via politics/money
We need to build as much momentum as possible
Bottom line - it won't happen. Ever.
tu will never receive enough votes to enter the SEC.
If I offered you enough money you would vote exactly like I asked
It would indeed have to be a hell of a lot of money for each team for multiple SEC teams to vote for tu. (And I am not counting media contracts you apparently think would increase because the SEC already has the 29 million + people within the state of Texas in their numbers).
So, once again, IMO, tu will never receive enough votes to enter the SEC.
Everyone has a price whether they admit it or not. I'm pretty sure the deep pockets of sip have more than enough to get votes
But go ahead and act as if their money couldnt buy someone who doesnt hate them like we do
Other schools in the SEC may not hate Texas the way many Aggies do, but they have seen how Texas operates toward us and other current Big? members. Can't see many if any would support allowing that cancer to join the SEC.
You do realize how much money each year t.u would make the conference if they joined? Chances are if thru joined it would be them and another program to keep the numbers even. I would guess t.u/OU

Gotta ask this question:
So what if OU and TU join the SEC? Those two are very established, name programs. Do you really think St, Ole Miss, Arky, Vandy, Carolina, Mizzou , etc really want another obstacle , another bump in the road for them to climb over? While those guys pull the upset every once in awhile, their chances of being competitive just got harder. H

Agree with you on this. Do they bring more to the table than they will eat? I don't think the SEC would get $125M annually in new money from Texas and OU joining the SEC.
Sorry, Horns, say Howdy to our old friends in Ames and I hope the children are OK.

My dream scenario: Lose WVU and Iowa St and Add USC, 2 AZ school, Oregon, Washington, CU. That puts us at 14 schools. East division could be UT, OU, OSU, Baylor, TCU, Kansas, K St. West division would be USC, Arizona, AZ St, Oregon, Washington, CU, and Tech

They aren't interested in the SEC because they think they're above the SEC.

If you've ever seen Big Fan with Patton Oswalt, this reminded me of the scene where he's calling into the sports talk radio after writing his rant for the entire day.TennesseeVol said:
I know three guys that are diehard Longhorn fans. They fly out there to some of the games. They are terribly upset at you guys even to the point they hate anything Aggie.
Walked down the hall at their business the other day and heard one of them hollering, chewing someone out and cursing them. I slowly started peeking around the door and he was throwing things across his office. His back was to me and he was cursing at the computer screen hollering, "Big s**t!! Big Aggie s**t!!" I waited a minute and eased in asking what was wrong. He said "Aggie this, Aggie that!!! SEC this, SEC that!!! They were a nobody until they joined the SEC and now they're getting all the media attention."
Ha!! Really funny. Heard them at lunch talking to each other saying they had to get in the SEC, too. I laughed at them saying us Vols don't want their cancer and besides A&M will see to it you'll never get in. Ha! They started calling me names and cussing the SEC and the Aggies. They were mad, mad but i got under their skin. Don't think that your recent upturn in facilities and media attention isn't being noticed with jealousy and scorn.

t.u. won't be getting into the SEC for a variety of reasons. First, they don't fit the SEC model of large university in a small college town (Austin is a major US city). Two, Arkansas, A&M, Missouri, and LSU will ALL vote no. Three, expansion will occur in two states and TV markets that won't include Texas.

This literally gets as much consideration as color socks worn by school President.
