That seems very consistent with what I've been thinking/dreading...he just wants to go out-of-state. Goes a long way to explaining how an Ole Miss and a Tennessee would be of equal/greater interest than A&M.Jbob04 said:jsmc71 said:Re Evans, an OM podcast recorded and aired last night and based on "a number of sources", said LSU leaning towards passing. Even if he is blue shirting with the scholarship counting towards 2021, he can practice with the team immediately. They are trying to enroll him now and if that doesn't happen because of how late the commitment happened, then he'll be enrolling first summer session.technoviking said:Pumpkinhead said:Just a note that the bolded part above is not accurate. Crownover was a full qualifier out of high school so he can leave JUCO immediately. Per his commitment interview, the A&M staff is trying to enroll him by the end of the today (Jan. 21) so that he can participate in the spring workouts and practices. If for some reason that doesn't happen due to the late time frame, then Crownover said he would be enrolling at A&M in first Summer session at the latest.Agsuffering@bulaw said:
The bigger Question:
We have RB Depth questions, WHY is he blueshirting? Anybody think of that?
He will miss summer workouts and much of fall ball. Unless he is a football genius, he will not learn the offense reading the playbook and watching tape. I dont know what Kilgore ran, but I doubt their protection schemes are as complex as Jimbo's. He will probably not understand the offense until halfway through the season, or later.
So WHY? (not sure the order)
1. B/c he is probably expected to be the "in case of emergency break glass" guy
2. The first game we wont be 2 TD favorites is Oct 3 starkville, the first game we will be dogs is Oct 17 Auburn
3. Jimbo wants high impact players badly, willing to risk running out of game-ready RBs early
Keep in mind that Jimbo puts a premium on RBs knowing the offense, even if they lack talent. Kibodi looked like a boy amongst men in the Auburn game. But, he knew who to block.
If jimbo needs him to, he'll enroll in the fall.
It has nothing to do with the commitment date and everything to do with Zach Evans.
Meanwhile, Tennessee visiting with Evans today: https://www.rockytoptalk.com/2020/1/21/21075137/tennessee-vols-football-recruiting-zachary-evans-five-star-running-back-visit
And, new rivals prediction has Evans landing at Georgia.
Also saw a screenshot on SEC rant from a post supposedly made by his brother that says "All I know is Zach want out of Texas and A&M has no chance "
As a previous poster said, this tactic by Evans - extending a recruitment during the spring even though already graduated from high school - instead of picking a university and early enrolling to get a good start on preparing for the next level - that tactic on top of getting suspended/kicked off his high school team - are huge red flags. Talented yes, but will be very interesting to watch this kid and see if he ever amounts to anything. Kid has a high potential ceiling but absolutely also a significant 'Bust' floor.technoviking said:Jbob04 said:jsmc71 said:Re Evans, an OM podcast recorded and aired last night and based on "a number of sources", said LSU leaning towards passing. The brother might be right. But, I can tell you Georgia doesn't want him back, and wants in state Gibbs. Ole miss took the commitment of a different RB the same weekend Evans was there and they already have 4 other RBs and a RB commitment before their most recent one.
Florida and Tennessee are the most likely to get Evans last two official visits. He's going to take all of them to milk this recruitment as much as he can. Jimbo is keeping the door open for him the whole time.

Interesting as some posters said yesterday that Jimbo drew a line in the sand for today based on tomorrow's in home with the kid from Az.

So what if Evans wants to take official visits to other schools before he makes his decision? Whether he does it to be informed about the schools or just to go have fun since it's a free trip, who cares?
You guys act like it's some sort of character flaw because he wants to take all his official visits.
He has already graduated and could have early enrolled somewhere to get to work developing for the next level. This kid has already had several months to visit a number of different schools and gather data to make a informed decision. If the kid is taking the spring off to 'have fun taking free trips', as you theorize, instead of working hard to figure things out ASAP and get his butt into a school to participate in their spring practices, then count me as a poster who wonders if the kid is taking his athletic career very seriously. That's a red flag to me.RealTalk said:

And this kid already had some other red flags, as the previous post walked through.

Kinda feels like it.
Right now, I'm only about 70% certain that this kid will actually ever play a down of college ball.
