I used to root for SEC teams this time of the year, but now I don't understand why I or anyone here would root for our rivals to win during bowl season or at all? We should be doing entirely the exact opposite.

After all, its in the best of our interests for our direct competitors Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Ga, & Florida to lose BIG and continue losing. Why wouldn't we want any of these programs to go down like Nebraska, Miami, or Tennessee did?

I don't know why I used to care how our conference did in bowl season, just to have something to show of to the sips. I hope we're the only top program from the SEC who wins unless they're playing the sips.

Exactly. Being the tallest midget in a crap league doesn't work too well under the CFP system. It did under the BCS, though and the "easiest path to the championship game."

Explains why the Sooners are 0-4 in play-off games, too.

Feel free to do so, rooting for the SEC does nothing to help our program. Not only is it counter intuitive to what our goals, it reeks of desperation to be relevant. Time to start rooting for ourselves and against our enemies.

Obviously, some don't get the financial implication of the conference winning!

We don't need it, it's a short term gain. You don't see it helping the low-mid tier teams in the SEC. It's nice and all, but in the long run its best for us to have as many SEC teams free fall like Michigan Miami or sips

How does you rooting for Big 10 teams help out goals?


(Not many know this, but who a fan watching at home chooses to cheer for has no bearing on the outcome)

Im not sure how you can say other teams winning and therefore making our conference look better doesnt help us.

If you ask akmost every one of our recruits, they say they want to play in the best conference against the best competition.

If the other teams in our conference are not winning, then it does us no good long term. If we want to be the best we have to compete against the best. It is pretty simple

Good grief! That's so naive. SEC $$$$$$$ pay for facilities, better coaches, resulting in better recruiting and a huge disparity in the amount of NFL talent produced by the league as a whole.

Programs rise an fall on coaching hires. Make a bad one or two in a row, they get in a hole. Miss State wasn't exactly crap when Mullen was there. Ole Miss wasn't crap when Freeze was there. Arkansas wasn't crap when Petrino was there.

Mike Slive and the UF regent eager to help us navigate entry into the SEC and DeLoss Dodd arrogantly offering a "sliver" are not the same thing

Our brand is tied to the SEC brand. A strong SEC gives us an edge recruiting against other conferences. It is why we have better classes than the sips and thieves. Ultimately, we must handle business. The best recruits wont sign with us unless we handle business. IF not Bama poaching local kids, it would be someone else.

Sip, of course you and your trash conference are tired being abused by the the SEC.

You've really stirred something inside me, I totally agree. In fact, I'm expanding upon it. I want all other Aggies to fail. How does their success positively impact me? It's no reflection upon my Alma Mater. And what if another Aggie doing well prevents me from getting the job I want

I think some of you fail to realize the gap between the SEC and everyone else. Having any of the top programs free fall wouldn't do anything to public perception of the SEC, the confrence will always be the top premier conference in college football.

Having UGA, LSU, & Bama ahead of us every year in recruiting does not help us, their success on the football fields translates to that

So you're saying we shouldn't root for any other team except A&M? What a fun football season that would be. Off weeks for us are to suck. Nothing to do but root for injuries and losses for the other 130 teams in the country.

I'm all for SEC teams esp against bdf ers.

Bama is the one team I wanted to lose and it's looking like they'll have the best win besides LSU.

Definitely not a U of California @ austin fan. I don't even know why a sip would even take the time to "troll" this.

I'm not saying we should actively root for the downfall of our conference, considering that will never happen regardless if Bama goes the next 5 years without a bowl appearance, it still would do nothing to the SEC brand. But yeah, go ahead and root for our rivals to continue their form into next season.

I can understand the value of building the SEC brand and rooting for our conference mates to win versus OOC opponents. But know this - I will never root for Bama, LSU, Arkansas, and Auburn. Those mfkers can go to hell.
