If we're gonna go the classic rock route, just do "If You Want Blood" by AC/DC and be done with it.

Have the team come out to the drum line like they do now, stand on the east hash mark and sing The Spirit like they used to (I don't care what new army says, the team standing there, facing down their opponent with the whole stands doing the yells at the end of The Spirit is intimidating as hell). Then as soon as as it's over, start the highlight reel on the big screens, turn the speakers to 11 and crank the AC/DC.

We should sing that all our exes live in texas and thats why we hang our hat in the sec

I put together a full set of lyrics to this same thing last week when the topic came up, but never posted it. Y'all enjoy or hate...it's fun either way!

All my ex's live in Texas
And the Big 12 is the place where we used to be
But all my ex's live in Texas
And that's why I hang my hat in the S-E-C

Deloss' down in Austin, Texas
Wanted to be PAC-16
Little Baylor was our neighbor
But envy turned her green

And Texas Tech in the upper left
Somehow lost its tumbleweeds
And Bevo who still lives at t.u.'s
Got the law looking for me

All my ex's live in Texas
And the Big 12 is the place where we used to be
But all my ex's live in Texas
And that's why I hang my hat in the S-E-C

I remember that old Southwest Conference
Where I learned to win
But it brings to mind another time
Where I wore my welcome thin
By transcendental meditation
I go there each night
But I always come back to Kyle Field
Long before midnight

All my ex's live in Texas
And the Big 12 is the place where we used to be
But all my ex's live in Texas
Therefore I reside in the S-E-C

Some folks think I'm hidin'
It's been rumored that I died
But I'm alive and well in the S-E-C

I think some of y'all focus way too much on the role music has in 'hyping up' the crowd. 40 years ago all you heard was the band. If you need a song to get you hyped to watch a football game maybe you shouldn't be at a football game.

40 years ago you barely had cable television. Now people are sending unsolicited nudes to each other in less than a second.

I think you old's don't have a clue about what visual/audio stimulants are now absolutely necessary to add to any environment or form of entertainment. There's also a lot more interest in IMAX and big effects than watching black & whites.

It is absolutely not necessary. It's just distraction. I'm a huge music buff. But if I'm watching a game at home I'm not pumping Kanye during commercial breaks. I don't need a song to get me hyped for anything. Music isn't going to keep me engaged in a football game. The score absolutely will.

And in all honesty the pumped in music desensitizes the entire experience. They play some stupid beat before every kickoff where you can no longer here the "Gig'Em Aggies" yell. Might as well do away with the Yell Leaders because they're no longer making a difference. They play music before and after the Aggie band plays and it just makes them sound dated. Kyle Field's atmosphere is a shell of what it was just 5 years ago and it's all thanks to pumped in music.

Agree with you there. I can hardly hear the band from our seats in SEZ, and the piped in speakers that spray the band over to us are so overly loud it makes that all annoying.

Since they haven't fixed the audio and you can also hardly hear the PA guy or the regular stadium speakers from our seats, it always just stays in the background for me. Took me a second to even realize they were playing music when Road Goes on Forever came on.

Not sure that the song segment being discussed is necessarily about hype. Songs like Sweet Home Alabama, Rocky Top,... etc are about participation, singing along and generating more of a feeling of camaraderie. To achieve that they first need to be iconic songs or at least iconic to the people in the stadium and they should speak to place or at least something everyone identifies with. I don't know that we have a song that qualifies. The REK thing was an attempt at that. Personally I can't think of a song and judging by the post here in neither can anyone else.

Seems to me that "The Spirit of Aggieland" and "The Aggie War Hymn" fit that bill pretty good.

But that's neither here nor there....let's get back to 29 year old guys berating others while explaining how things were 40 years ago.

Last year, they played "If you're gonna play in Texas..." and it was much more engaging than The Road Goes on Forever was last week.

If they have to do something, there are songs out there. I think their choice the other night just didn't work. It happens.

If it didn't make a difference then we wouldn't be doing it. You're wrong. It's as simple as that. Maybe later this evening I'll get into it when I have more time but right now that's what you're gonna get.

By the way, I don't think it helped the crowd get into it that they just put "The Road Goes On Forever- Robert Earl King" on a plain red background up on the video boards for 3 minutes.

Show the crowd, let folks act silly and freak out when they see themselves on the big screen.

It's passing time during media timeouts. That's the perfect time for corny ***** They should do a bit where they find a different person in the crowd each game to sing the opening verse to You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin, then let the rest of the crowd pick them up and sing the chorus together.

Fun, light, funny if they can't sing, then unifying and loud with 80,000+ singing a song together.

Boom. I just ended racism.

I am not advocating for it. My presence is for no piped-in music or videos. I accept times change and I believe the game day experience should be more for the students than the alumni. But if one is looking for a "Sweet Home Alabama" experience I am hard pressed to think of a song that can do that in Kyle.

Muse- "Knights of Cydonia" and start it at the 3:46 mark.

Otherwise my vote is "Shoot to Thrill", if it's good enough for Iron Man it's good enough for the 12th man.
