I still think Dio is the way to go.

I think some of y'all focus way too much on the role music has in 'hyping up' the crowd. 40 years ago all you heard was the band. If you need a song to get you hyped to watch a football game maybe you shouldn't be at a football game.
You olds... I'm 29.Bunk Moreland said:OldShadeOfBlue said:

40 years ago you barely had cable television. Now people are sending unsolicited nudes to each other in less than a second.
I think you old's don't have a clue about what visual/audio stimulants are now absolutely necessary to add to any environment or form of entertainment. There's also a lot more interest in IMAX and big effects than watching black & whites.

L Grange - ZZ Top
Seems to me that "The Spirit of Aggieland" and "The Aggie War Hymn" fit that bill pretty good.ghowe said:
Not sure that the song segment being discussed is necessarily about hype. Songs like Sweet Home Alabama, Rocky Top,... etc are about participation, singing along and generating more of a feeling of camaraderie. To achieve that they first need to be iconic songs or at least iconic to the people in the stadium and they should speak to place or at least something everyone identifies with. I don't know that we have a song that qualifies. The REK thing was an attempt at that. Personally I can't think of a song and judging by the post here in neither can anyone else.
Fine, I should have said 10 years ago. Except it makes no difference.Yelnick McWawa said:Seems to me that "The Spirit of Aggieland" and "The Aggie War Hymn" fit that bill pretty good.ghowe said:

But that's neither here nor there....let's get back to 29 year old guys berating others while explaining how things were 40 years ago.
He may be 29, but I believe he is largely right.Yelnick McWawa said:Seems to me that "The Spirit of Aggieland" and "The Aggie War Hymn" fit that bill pretty good.ghowe said:

Last year, they played "If you're gonna play in Texas..." and it was much more engaging than The Road Goes on Forever was last week.Quote:

If it didn't make a difference then we wouldn't be doing it. You're wrong. It's as simple as that. Maybe later this evening I'll get into it when I have more time but right now that's what you're gonna get.OldShadeOfBlue said:Fine, I should have said 10 years ago. Tell me one song the majority of the stadium would really around, support, sing and have with. Because it ain't Fiddle in the Band or The Road Goes On.....TXAggie2011 said:Last year, they played "If you're gonna play in Texas..." and it was much more engaging than The Road Goes on Forever was last week.Quote:

If they have to do something, there are songs out there. I think their choice the other night just didn't work. It happens.
