My first job post graduation was lead engineer for Toyota.

Your first engineering job was as a lead? I'm not sure if you're a genius or if Toyota has issues...
Neither. New, small, very specific group based in the US at the time. You have to remember that cars from the 90s aren't anywhere near as complex as today. Point of reference, Lexus was a fledgling brand for them when I graduated. I got the lead because I was the only one willing to travel and live off and on overseas. It was a tremendous experience.

Programmer/Analyst at Brown & Root, Inc. Back then B&R was the largest engineering construction company in the world. Amazing what a little political coup overseas can do to a company. This was back in the days of writing green screen systems using punched cards. The field changed a little over the next 40 years.

I worked for RUSTEX, Inc. out of the B/CS area working oilfield construction... For $9/hr in 1994 I had a job lined out in West Texast but they wouldn't let me start until September. I graduated May of '94 and I needed a job for the summer. So my "engineering degree" had me doing concrete construction, pipelining, ditch digging, and a lot of hammer swinging. Hotter than hell in remote locations around the area.... It was awesome most fun I've had in a hard hat lol

Maybe more interesting would be what you were paid at that job...as for me, 1000.00/month plus an excellent benefit package. This was mid 1976. 1000.00 was big coin back then. Sumitomo even paid for my park and ride expenses too since I took the bus in from OC.

Finished BS in 66 and MS in 67. My new wife and I got jobs in NE school district in San Antonio, I was at T. Roosevelt HS and taught Physics, she taught HomeEC at a middle school. Together we made $700 per month and thought we had gone to heaven that we had so much money! (groceries for the week were $25 at Globe.) The good old days!
