N.C. State's leading tackler plans to sit out Gator Bowl against Texas A&M
First it was the WR now its the starting LB.

I sell high risk insurance with Lloyds and can assure you those policies are not cheap. They can cost the same price per million of an older unprotected wood frame apartment building for section 08 occupants sitting on a beach in a high risk flood zone.jxs40 said:
Maybe the bowls should provide a free Lloyd's of London insurance policy to players identified with NFL talent.
(half serious half joking)
Under the current system, a non-playoff bowl may be viewed by a jaded, lock-NFL player as a chance to risk future earning potential in order to provide the school with a paycheck.JJxvi said:
If players arent even going to play in them, there is even more reason to replace bowl games with more playoff games.
Disagree. If it were a playoff game, that'd be one thing. But for a glorified exhibition game? Too much money at stake.TAMU74 said:
Sorry...IMO this shows disrespect to your teammates and fan base.
GMs don't care if a guy skips his bowl game. Outside just a handful, they are really just glorified exhibition games. What GMs want are healthy prospects to choose from. No GM is going to pass on Ed Oliver or Nick Bosa because they cut out early.Agsrback12 said:
I'm not sure how long this will last. GMs immediately find out who the me guys are. One of the more difficult things to determine as a GM are what is this individuals motivation level going to be when he is a millionaire and has eff you money?

They need some skin in the game so to speak. If they sit out and do make it to the NFL, they should have to pay back some of their scholarship.
When you look at the benefits the kid receives from the school vs. the number of hours of work the kid puts in to play his sport - he would do better flipping burgers at McDonalds.decent looking Ag said:30wedge said:

How many millions of dollars do universities make off of these kids without them ever seeing a penny?

Per CBS Sports draft prospect rankings, 3 of the top 4 guys will bypass their team's bowl game (Oliver, Bosa, Greedy Williams). The only one in the top 4 that's playing is in the CFP (Jonah Williams). GMs don't care.

He didn't bail from the game but I specifically remember Miami Hurricane RB McGahee saying before the game he was not going to go balls out. He wan't to avoid getting hurt. Stepped out of bounds, went down easy...OSU had no business being in the game but McGahee half-assing it really hurt the Hurricanes.Kozmozag said:
Has any player bailed on a championship game yet?
might want to check that math againwbt5845 said:When you look at the benefits the kid receives from the school vs. the number of hours of work the kid puts in to play his sport - he would do better flipping burgers at McDonalds.decent looking Ag said:30wedge said:

So yeah the kid has no incentive to play in a glorified exhibition game that might endanger his ability to support his family for years to come. It's a no brainer, actually.

Hopefully more players sit out which expose the bowl system as the exhibition sham that it is, and forces the playoffs to expand.
As perfect as our playoff system is, THIS is the one and only reason I'd like to see the playoffs expanded.OilManAg91 said:

If I'm a GM I would prefer my prospects to stay healthy.Agsrback12 said:
