First, stats are highly useful in projecting future performance. Look at the program spreadsheet runs. It looks at a hell of a lot more than wins and losses.

But, what I think you are referring to is evaluating teams, units, and player performance in a past game. Sometimes teams play poorly and win. Sometimes they play well and lose. Sometimes one unit plays well and the others do not. Sometimes one player plays well, but the team lets him down. Stats can measure performance.

To say otherwise is overly simplistic.

The two most important pieces of the tu football program are their schools of journalism and law. Maybe you could throw in the ESPN funded lhn recruiting network.

Can you imagine the big huge deal that would be made of this if Herman were a&m's coach. The media here in Texas would make it biggest controversy to hit the state in 20 years. I don't think cheating on your wife or being into Asians is a NCAA infraction but I guarantee that if this were the Aggie head coach, the sips would be making sure the infractions committee would be threatening to give Aggie football the death penalty. But since this is their coach, it's lies and no big deal.
