According to Vegas:

1. A&M
2. Everybody else

The journos will take another month to figure it out. Screw'em. Most are hacks. IF they actually knew football, they would work for a program, nfl team, or sportsbook.

tu would be lucky to kick 2 field goals against a physical, SEC defense likes ours. blow u was way overrated and had no defense. We would crush either.

Y'all realize that Texas is squarely in the playoff picture, right?

Now that they have beaten TCU and OU, they will be favored except for WVU. Win that and have some things fall their way, and they could actually sneak in.

I feel confident the horns will have another Maryland type moment before season's end.

You realize they lost to Maryland right?

The big 12 is behind the eight ball and unless wv wins out they should be hoping for other teams to falter. Thats the only way the big 12 gets one in.
These are my people, Americans.

Everyone was pretty confident they would lose to USC, then TCU, the OU.

I'm not saying they deserve it, but the favoritism they receive will put them in the conversation.

tu is playing good football right now but yeah it's against the Big 12. I thought they'd have 1 loss at this point but I thought it would be against ou. I didn't know how bad their defense was until they let Baylor score 30 something on them.

tu has beaten 3 ranked opponents in the last month. Add in all the caveats you want, it's hard not to rank them high.

OU barely gets by Army in OT at OU. They have nothing.

That is all.

I think Texas vs A&M Texas would be a good game right now with either home team a slight favorite, both are headed in the right direction. A & Ms secondary would be a horrible match up vs OU at this point, Mond would have to play mistake free football to keep it close, he's been Jeckyl and Hide in this area. A&M and Texas both seem to play up and down to their opponents so maybe he would shine in such a game.

They're definitely not out of the playoff chase, and would need quite a bit of help, but by no means are they out of it. If they run the table, they'll be a blueblood P5 conference champion on an 11 game winning streak. It'll be hard to not put them in, but if Alabama/Georgia, OSU, Clemson and Notre Dame handle their very manageable schedules, then they won't make it.

All the teasips are out on Facebook saying they're playoff locks at this point. I had one go as far to tell me that they'd win the SEC. Loloololol

Only one of them is still ranked, and I bet it stays that way.

WVU is the best big12 team I've seen but they get them at home.

Undefeated ND gets in over them, as will Clemson, and OSU. A one lose SEC champ gets in over them.

The loss to MD hurts and the big12 is dog *****

They have to win out AND win their B12CG to even have a shot to get in.

They still have to play: Baylol (eye roll), Oklahoma State (on the road), WVU, Tech (on the road), and Iowa St. I think they go 3-2 in those games finishing at 9-3.

This is what will happen:

-Clemson runs the table and gets in even though their conference is a joke this year.
-OSU runs the table and gets in even though every other conference member has at least two losses excluding maybe Penn State.
-Bama/Georgia runs the table and gets in. My bet is on Bama.
-Notre Dame runs the table and gets in.

-Washington from the Pac 12 goes 12-1 winning CCG and gets left out.
-Every team in the BDF has at least one loss and they're an afterthought. The loser of SEC CCG gets more consideration than that dumpster fire of a conference with no defense basketball score games.

Texas is improved .. I'll give them that.
Ehlinger is a good QB.

But Texas is not getting into the playoffs. Get real
They are not good enough to run the table including the Confernce champ game which would likely be a rematch with OU or WV.

They would have to win out.

Even their prize baby ESPN has their chances of winning out around 10-11% BEFORE the big 12 championship, which would probably be another 50/50 game making it 5%. Very rare chance. If they win their next 3, we can start to worry about that.

Not to mention that doesn't change what the OP is asking. He is asking who are the best teams. We would be 6-0 against their schedule with a chance at 12-0.

Well, Texas just beat OU on a neutral field. How is Texas not good enough to beat them again? I guess Texas is not good enough to beat OSU, Tech and Iowa State. On what basis do you believe that?

So what happens when:

  • A&M and texas both win out
  • Rest of the SEC east sucks and A&M finishes "3rd" in the SEC
  • Bama and Georgia make the CFP
  • texas misses CFP for losing to Maryland
  • A&M and texas sugar bowl on new years in new Orleans happens.

Just hope the "they have more to gain" people don't apply that regular season scheduling logic to the postseason and dodge a NY6 bowl for the citrus/alamo just to avoid playing texas.

I don't know many Texas fans that think this is a playoff team although I'm sure there are a few just like there were a few Aggies earlier this year thinking the Ags were a playoff caliber squad. Most are just happy with the current progress and are excited just to see a halfway decent product on the field winning some games.

I think Texas loses at least one of OSU/TT/WVU and possibly two to end up 10-2 or 9-3. Of course I also expected them to lose 2 out of 3 to USC/TCU/OU. They are playing pretty good football now with a very young team. Most here on TexAgs won't admit that though simply because it's TexAgs. Regardless, Texas is beating expectations as most had them pegged at 7-5 or 8-4 to start the season with many here saying only 4-5 wins.

Both Texas and A&M are trending up in my opinion and that's a good thing. I agree with the 1a and 1b posts above with all the rest down the list not mattering.

The percentage chance that Texas is going to go undefeated through a Big 12 championship game is only roughly 4.5%. (which is basically identical to A&M's percentage chances of finishing the regular season at 10-2 from this point on, for a bit of reference)

@Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and @Texas Tech would basically be 50% tossup games based on current ratings, and you assume that this would also be the case for the Big 12 championship game. In addition to that Kansas is currently the only game remaining on the schedule that would be considered a greater than 90% lock for them to win.

Vegas O/U was 8.5 wins. Joey Galloway picked em to make the CFP. Probably best not to use fan board or rival board posts as claims of what "most" expected.

Most folks who cover college football expected Texas around 9 wins.
