I'm an alternative fan and have been to many concerts, but these are my favorites.

Prince - Purple Rain - 1984 or thereabout - by far the best concert I've ever been to.

REO Speedwagon (opening act John Cougar) - 1982 - my first concert and it's high on the list.

Twenty One Pilots - 2017 - I took my 13 year old son to his first concert - it was a blast!

Dave Mathews "unplugged" in an opera house in Paris. Couldn't have been more that 500 people there. Was epic.

Too many to name & my tastes run the gamut, so here goes:

Skipping high school in '74 to go to Houston to see Crosby, Stills & Nash w/ the Beach Boys - ha!
Same year - also skipping: Little Feat at Hofheinz Pavilion

'86 was a great year for English bands at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas: The Smiths, Joe Jackson. I saw Elvis Costello there in '96.

Sometime in the 80's I saw Ella Fitzgerald in the little room at the Fairmont in Dallas - incredible. And Prince Purple Rain at Reunion.

The 1996 Lollapalooza in the middle of nowhere south of Dallas was really something. Blazing hot, people passing out, Metallica fans throwing stuff at Steve Earle ( and him throwing back! ) Soundgarden, Ramones, Screaming Trees and some actual Monks.

Beck in Grand Prairie in 2006 or so. It was the tour with the puppets & fun to watch.
The Pixies there in 2004 - amazing.

I saw the late Chris Whitley in a tiny place in Paris years ago (not meant to be a humble brag) and it was unbelievable & memorable. Small rooms are always the best.

Johnny Rivers at G. Rollie.1967. Lost electrical but he continued to sing with no amplification and emergency lighting only. Truly one of the best.

KISS Reunion Concert '96 in the Summit with all of the original members for the first time since '79 or '80. The Love Gun stage set to boot. Nothing but original line up songs, and all members had been in training with professional trainers and in shape for the show and all of the onstage antics and props. Like a freakin' time machine.

Seen a lot, but a couple of others:

Metallica
The Cars (Heartbeat City Tour, but played all. Fantastic sound and time in the '80s at the Meadowlands, Austin)
Jerry Jeff
Van Halen (not Van Hagar, but saw that too)
Guy Clark (did not know who he was opening for JJW, but he stole the show hands down, amazing surprise)
Green is the new RED.

U2 Joshua Tree Hoosier Dome Indianapolis 1988
A small COUNTRY looking redneck band opened before Los Lobos came out as the opening act. The COUNTRY band kicked ass! Los Lobos had a stellar performance. U2 Blew the roof off the Hoosier Dome....... On the way home we heard on the radio that the COUNTRY REDNECK band was actually U2 in disguise!

The other concert would be Washington County fair the year Garth Brooks released his first album in 1989... He actually played an 8pm AND 10pm performance.... We could dance front and center stage of his performance..... No way in hell that would happen today! Lol
