I think the only way A&M gets him, is if he has some level of assurance he gets every chance at LT.
Getting drafted LT out of Rice is not going to be nearly as high a pick, as if it were a P5 school. He knows that.
Looking at our OL, IIRC, we played a bunch of Freshman during the year, and shuffled players around.
We have on our last depth chart listed:
Starters:
LT: Koda - 6'6"/310, Jr
LG: Prater - 6'4"/300, So
C: McCoy - 6'4"/315, So
RG: Lanfear - 6'6"/320, Jr
RT: Sutherland - 6'5"/310 Jr
2nds:
LT: Moore - 6'5"/317, Fr-HS
LG: McCollum - 6'5"/295, Fr-RS ...... Green - 6'6"/300, Fr-HS
C: McCollum
RG: Hocker - 6'5"/318, Fr-HS...... Congel - 6'3"/315, Fr-HS
RT: Daimler - 6'7"/325, Gr-TR
Signed last year, and not on the depth:
T: Grayson Reed: 6'5"/304
G: Adrian Wolford: 6'5"/310
So... we already have a pretty veteran OL. IF everyone stays healthy. Him waiting until Spring to decide could very well take into consideration that with OL... you will have injuries and that is opportunistic for him.
Without looking at other school's rosters, I would think if he wanted to be a Sip... on the surface, that would have been done, already. Their OL is terrible... they are desperate for players and I can't imagine Hermie wouldn't tell him he has the spot at LT, if he wants it.
Going to either OU or Sip wouldn't make sense if he wants to improve the quality of players he faces, above what he got at Rice. He likely didn't face any NFL quality DL there... and he likely won't see more than 1 or 2 playing for OU or Sip.
