I enjoy most of GBH's articles but this is just pathetic, we just hired a MNC winning head coach and are 6 years into SEC and they still miss the sips enough to write an article with everything going on. We are far removed from the program that left the dumpster fire in 2011 and we should act like it. Instead GBH is using texas surveys and sources to promote the game. They even promote a survey but only if you support the game.

I voted anyway to make it very clear that I don't want to play the game again in my lifetime.

Why do you insist on looking backwards instead of forwards?

Since some people are so intent on looking backwards instead of forwards, lets look back. Remember the last time we played the sips? Remember how the rabid sip fan wearing the striped shirt single handedly awarded them the winning drive? Remember how the big 12 officials broke the rules of the big 12 to take a conference championship away from Nebraska, and award it to their precious sips? Remember how our 2 point conversion play call was broadcast on the air 2 minutes before we ran the play, and amazingly enough their defense was ready? Remember the disgusting jokes about the kids who died when bonfire collapsed? Remember how they went behind the backs of everyone else in their conference to negotiate a deal for their own network, with language in the contract that made a conference network impossible? Remember how they were then using that network to broadcast the high school games of recruits from around the state... as long as they committed to the sips first? Remember how they made every team in the big 12 agree to refuse to schedule us when we changed conferences? Anyone who wants to go back to that needs to have their head examined

We are eventually going to play them again. The sooner you folks come to grips with this, the better off you will be.

Agree completely.

The majority of Ags that I know agree.

Texags can be an echo chamber.

I am 100% in favor on one condition: The next 21 years we have the game at Kyle field.

This will even up the "home & home" and allow the sips to experience gameday in an elite college football environment. Win-win.

What happened after that?

If we were doing well in the SEC with frequent wins against Bama, Auburn, and LSU I don't think Aggies would be having this conversation, because rivalries would be fomenting with the natural excitement of expectation.

As it stand now we expect to lose to our more competitive SECW teams and so we wax nostalgic for Texas.

I don't think anyone is advocating rejoining the conference with them...

( BTW, I agree that the call in 2011 was an abomination, but I blame the network for what happened in 1990 (CBS, wasn't it?))

Regarding the bonfire collapse:

In the interest of fairness: I don't consider internet morons making jokes about a tragedy representative of anything. What I'll always remember about the 1999 game (other than the miraculous, inspired victory) is the Longhorn band lowering their flags at halftime while they held the A&M flags up. That was a gracious and meaningful gesture, and deserves to be remembered more than some anonymous dipsh*ts making tasteless jokes...

Yes it was. Being the premiere college game in prime time on Thanksgiving was a big deal.

There is something special about in-state rivalries, and this was one of the biggest.

I think it's inevitable that we eventually play them again as well. My hope at this point is that it's in front of 100,000+ at Kyle Field at night in November and not some mid tier bowl game down the road.
