I'm not sure I understand. Why is it easier to charge a case where the threats were received opposed to where the subject lives and sent the threats? The crime is dropping the threat into the mail box, not the victim opening the letter.

So how do you prove where it was mailed in order to establish jurisdiction? Post marks only apply to where the mail was sorted. That has all kinds of logistical issues. You can't just say, "the guy resides in Harris county, so that's where we will charge him." Or, the mail ended up in Harris county at some point so we will charge there. There has to be a lot more going on than just that letter otherwise the charging doesn't make sense.

If the guy resides in Harris County he can be charged in Harris county for acts done is Harris County. Mail is sorted electronically these days. Just because all you see is a post mark, you dont really know how the post office tracks mail.

Point is - this does not appear to be related to the letter. If it was, it would make more sense that Brazos DA would take it is the easiest path to prosecution.

The mail was brought into a facility in Harris County. The guy who sent it resides in Harris County. Not sure why brazos would take such a case. In such situations they obviously have to track it back to the guy who did it somehow, so maybe they have evidence of it.

Ya, but it could have been mailed from a surrounding county that is serviced by Harris County sorting facility. See the post above for an example of how that happens.

If the threat was received in Brazos county, then the harassing conduct was completed upon receipt by the victim...in Brazos county. Much easier to connect the dots.

This whole thing is just very odd. The guy looks like a total nut bag based on the stalking charge but that still seems completely unrelated to sumlin and the letter.

This Rachael chic was fed the info from Charline in the first place. She further clarified that the confession came while Robin was in trouble for the other stuff. Charline retweeted the original tweet today making the original story highly credible.

So if the Sumlin's knew who sent the letter, why didn't they come out and say it was a sip and not an Ag?
