I thought we had a shot in baseball. I have lost all hope after getting swept at Olsen to a pretty mediocre UK team.
It's interesting that the two flagship schools in one of the most talented states can't get it done. Usually if it's not one winning it's the other. Something in the water.33 said:
It is disappointing that Football, Basketball and Baseball at both Texas and Texas A&M are so far below the standard of these Universities.
Baseball is choking at the beginning of the seasonQuote:
So we are complaining that the athletes are choking at the end of the season?
We didn't choke in basketball. We lost to pretty much every decent to good team we played all year.2/7Marine0311 said:

Thats not really a coach thing, that's more of an athlete not being strong enough mentally to continue when it gets tough, physically yes that would be the coaches fault.
This is a great time to not renew tickets also.sshm said:
And as for football, it certainly is a coaching issue when you choke every year like clockwork.

1942 would have been a great time not to renew tickets. Why are the past 3 years any different from the previous 70 plus years? Each year involves some type of choking or worse, just a non competitive team.
The problem with athletics is not because interest has declined. The FB stadium is still full on Saturday's, etc.Aftermath said:
No want wants to admit it, but, we have been in increasing decline as has Texas since the top 10% rule for admittance has been in play. Great students but interest in sports has declined. Football players are the popular crowd( in general) not the academic one. Girls go to popular places and and boys follow. The robotics team, debate team, engineering club etc. has great female students, but not a lot of cheerleader, Pom squad types. Not saying it's right, but just the way it is. I have college age boys and this is what I hear. The closer we come to Vandy and Duke like student bodies the closer we come to Vandy and Duke like football

I'm not sure what the porn squad is, but there are way hotter chicks at A&M now than even 5 years ago. They are letting way more people in.Aftermath said:

The Top 10% rule needs to go, and we need to start putting preference points back on legacy students.
Outside of that, football has not been noteworthy since 1939. We have had a couple of seasons that we thought about poking our head above water, but nothing ever came of them and we went back into the status quo of better than average, worse than great teams.
Baseball has never been anything of a powerhouse. We have had multiple opportunities, but have never capitalized on them and are little more than a regional team.
Basketball has never, ever, ever been anything to write home about. A couple of NCAA appearances is all we have to brag about.
As another poster said - our little brother syndrome has been, IMO, our worst enemy. As long as we are better than t.u. in something, we seem to be placated from a sports administration standpoint. Instead of focusing on finding some way to one up the ass pirates, we should focus on making A&M the dominant school and really not pay much attention to what the astroglide college in Austin does.
