Mazzone is average, a tad better than Spav, with a qb that is not as good as a slightly above average Allen and a better RB situation.

The offense will probably be as effective as last year. Sumlin is basically hanging his hat entirely on Chief's defense at this point.

It's only one game in, folks. Is this board really that fickle? I'll reserve judgment until at least mid-season.

Same crap as Spaz
Pretty telling about this board that it took this many posts to correct the OP.

For most of the game he had an entire offensive line that had never started a college game. Combine that with a QB playing his first game for A&M and I think he did well. I was very happy with the running game. My only "WTF was that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" moment was the play calling on the 2 drives that allowed UCLA to catch up. More runs, run clock. Our defense was dominating them until he gave the ball back to them in 40 second and 20 second consecutive drives.

Give Mazzone this team with Rosen, and we beat UCLA by 30.

Knight is not a good QB. He's simply not accurate. And he's not a freshman who will improve. We are fcked at QB.

Perfect? No. But to call for his head already is just dense.

It's been said. I'll echo it

First game
Ring rusty qb in his first start for us
3 underclassmen on O line
Missing a decent receiver
Freshman running back in the mix
Playing against a veteran loaded defense who spent the last 4 straight years practicing against mazzones offense specifically

It wasn't THAT bad folks. Not predicting a championship year, but for crying out loud look around the rest of the conference this weekend. It could have gone a lot worse. I have just as high of hopes and expectations as anyone, especially based on the amount of funding dumped into this program lately, but we should at least keep this game in perspective. If anyone had a tremendous schematic advantage in this game it was UCLA and we managed to squeak by even with that sizable handicap going in

Disagree with your assessment of receiver. And Ford was outstanding.

Man some of you guys are insane. Let's get a few more games down before you go full tard on him and knight. And I'm usually pretty quick to be a pot banger. Chill.

Spav would have easily choked, two runs up the middle, bubble screen, punt. Every freaking drive. Bunch of negative nancies. Yeah the good was really good and the bad was awful. But we saw something Texas A&M football doesn't do alot and that is coming in clutch. I honestly thought we were going to lose after how fast they got into the redzone the first drive. Like, my BAS was there already. This was a good win, albeit, shouldn't have gotten that close.

Discombobulated passing game, especially with our talented receivers.

It would be nice if the receivers could get separation.

Im not impressed so far. If he can adapt after watching tape from this week it sure would help.
